Mitsubishi Pajero Hybrid SUV comeback expected in 2027

Mitsubishi Pajero is one of the legendary cars and, now, it is about to make a comeback, yet in a new form, a modern plug-in hybrid SUV. The new Pajero is scheduled to be launched in 2027, and, compared to the older model, it is anticipated to be more sizable, expensive, and luxuriously oriented toward off-road driving with an elaborate tri-motor hybrid system and a new generation of technology-enhanced capabilities.

Brewing a comeback by the year 2027, the Mitsubishi Pajero that used to dominate the off-road SUV market is getting ready to make a splashy comeback. However, it is not going to be a classical comeback. Gone is the rugged brute of a diesel-bodied car; Mitsubishi is redesigning the Pajero as a high-end, plug-in hybrid luxury SUV.

Design and Interiors

The all-new Pajero is said to be built on a modified CMF-C/D platform; it will share its platform with the Outlander. But the parallels do not stop there. The Pajero will also have a substantially bigger and more muscular body frame, a bold styling flair that features trim LED DRLs, a high-rising bonnet and a rough, rugged front bumper. It will also be separate at the back in terms of a split tailgate and a separate glass hatch.

The interior of the next-generation Pajero is set to indicate the upward trend that is seen at Mitsubishi. Vertical air vents, a lower-mounted infotainment display, high-quality materials and of course a leather-clad setup, all tiered, are possibilities. It is also expected to be a bit wider than its predecessor, with likely increased spaciousness, particularly on the third row and in the boot, thus becoming a real family-oriented adventure car.

Engine

The Pajero will come with a big punch underneath the hood. The plug-in hybrid system, which has been borrowed and refined by the Outlander, will also include a 2.4L petrol engine, and three power motors (two at the rear axle and one at the front). This, with a massive 382bhp with dynamic torque vectors and locking differentials, should add to its off-road kudos.

It will be a comeback in the truest sense of the term, and the new Pajero is likely to compete with such monsters as the Lexus GX, Land Rover Defender, BMW X7, and Range Rover Sport, so it may become an SUV revolution in Mitsubishi. Given the proper application, the Pajero nameplate would once again etch its image into the collective consciousness as the all-terrain, performance commodity.
