February Auto Sales 2025 for the Big Carmakers

March 2025 has already arrived, and the year has been exciting thus far with the introduction of new cars and more to come. Sales of vehicles have also been excellent, particularly for automakers like Mahin

With the release of new vehicles and more to follow, March 2025 has already arrived, and the year has been fantastic so far. Automakers like Mahindra have witnessed a sharp rise in reservations for their new EVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, and sales of these vehicles have also been quite good.

Car consumers in India are even more excited because other automakers like Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, and Kia have either introduced new cars or are anticipated to do so shortly.

More information on the Auto Sales 2025 for the February month

Now, let's see how automakers fared in terms of sales during February 2025. Today, sales numbers from Mahindra, Hyundai, Tata Motors, and Maruti Suzuki are anticipated to be released, along with performance reports for February 2025 from two-wheeler manufacturers.

So, after doing an overall analysis of the sales of the giant car makers in February 2025, the sales have been good for a few, flat for some, and a decline for some.

  1. Mahindra takes the second spot

In February 2025, Mahindra overtook Hyundai as the second-best-selling automaker.

  1. Suzuki Domestic Sales down

In February 2025, Suzuki registered total sales of 90,206 units. This includes domestic sales of 73,455 units and exports of 16,751 units. The company sold a total of 97,435 units in February 2024, with 83,304 units in the domestic market and 14,131 units in exports.

While domestic sales were impacted in February 2025, exports witnessed a 19% growth over the same period last year.

  1. MG Sales in February

In February 2025, JSW MG Motor India reported 4,002 units sold. During the month, 78% of the company's total sales came from its EV portfolio. Additionally, the business stated that 4,956 cars were sold to consumers in February.

  1. Kia Sales up to 29%

Compared to the 20,200 units sold in February of the previous year, Kia recorded overall sales of 25,026 units, representing a 23.8% year-over-year (Y-O-Y) increase. All of the automaker's goods have sold well, and it is also placing its money on future models like the Syros and the soon-to-be-released Seltos, which have been seen in testing.

  1. Tata PV Sales down by 9%

In February 2025, Tata Motors reported a 9% drop in their PV domestic sales. In February 2024, the company sold 51,267 units; last month, it sold 46,435 units.

However, after shipping 376 units, Tata's exports increased by triple digits, registering 596%.

CategoryFebruary 2025February 2024Growth (Y-o-Y)
Total PV Domestic (includes EV)46,43551,267-9%
PV IB37654596%
Total PV (includes EV)46,81151,321-9%
EV (IB + Domestic)5,3436,923-23%

Conclusion

Mahindra's rise to the second-best-selling automaker in February 2025 highlights its growing market presence, driven by strong demand for its new EVs. While some automakers, like Kia saw impressive growth, others, including Tata Motors and Suzuki, faced declines in domestic sales. The EV segment continues to gain traction, with companies like MG Motor India reporting significant increases in sales. Overall, the auto industry remains dynamic, with shifting consumer preferences, new product launches, and evolving market trends shaping the competitive landscape.
