Citroen Basalt Interior Teased For The First Time Ahead Of August Unveiling

Citroen Basalt Interior Teased for the First Time Ahead of August Unveiling

The highly anticipated Citroen Basalt, which was first unveiled as a concept in March 2024, is now approaching its official debut in August. Ahead of this launch, Citroen India has started teasing the SUV coupe, giving enthusiasts a glimpse into its interior. Here’s what we know so far about this upcoming offering from Citroen.

What Was Seen?

The latest teaser provides a look at the cabin seats and new dashboard trim. The Basalt will feature a beige-colored cabin theme, with both front and rear seats equipped with adjustable headrests. The teaser also hints at a front center armrest and a dashboard layout similar to that of the C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross SUV, including a floating-type infotainment unit, likely the same 10.2-inch unit used in other Citroen models in India.

The rear center armrest includes cup holders and a small recess for storing knick-knacks, enhancing passenger comfort and convenience.

Expected Features and Safety

While Citroen has not yet revealed the full details of the SUV-coupe's interiors, it is expected to borrow several features from its SUV sibling, the C3 Aircross. Anticipated features include:

  • 7-inch digital driver's display

  • Cruise control

  • Automatic AC

  • Wireless phone charger

  • Push-button start/stop

  • Keyless entry

In terms of safety, the Citroen Basalt is likely to be equipped with:

  • 6 airbags

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • Rear parking camera

  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Expected Powertrain

The Basalt is expected to be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine found in the C3 Aircross and C3 hatchback, producing 110 PS and up to 205 Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Expected Price and Rivals

Citroen is expected to launch the Basalt shortly after its debut in August, with prices likely starting from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). This places it in direct competition with the Tata Curvv, while also offering a stylish alternative to compact SUVs such as:

  • Hyundai Creta

  • Kia Seltos

  • Maruti Grand Vitara

  • Volkswagen Taigun

  • Toyota Hyryder

  • Skoda Kushaq

  • MG Astor

  • Citroen C3 Aircross

  • Honda Elevate

With its combination of sleek design, advanced features, and competitive pricing, the Citroen Basalt is set to make a significant impact in the compact SUV segment. Stay tuned for its official unveiling next month to learn more about this exciting new model.
