BYD India has announced that the facelifted e6 MPV will be branded as the BYD eMax7 upon its launch. The official price announcement is expected in early October.
The updated e6, which is already available in Indonesia under the name BYD M6, has been renamed eMax7 for the Indian market due to copyright issues with the M6 name.
Exterior and Interior Updates
The BYD eMax7 will feature several updates both inside and out. Externally, the vehicle will showcase redesigned headlamps and tail-lamps, with additional chrome elements enhancing its appearance. The front and rear bumpers have also been revised to give the eMax7 a fresh look.
Inside, the eMax7 will upgrade to a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, replacing the previous 10.1-inch screen. The dashboard largely retains its design, but the center console has been updated with two wireless charging pads, new switchgear, and a new drive selector lever. A redesigned steering wheel will be included, while analogue dials will remain for the instrument cluster.
Powertrain and Specifications
In Indonesia, the e6 is available with two battery options: a 55.4 kW unit offering a range of 420 km and a 71.8kWh unit providing a range of 530 km. The smaller battery produces 163hp and the larger one generates 204hp, both with 310 Nm of torque—an improvement from the existing model's 95hp and 180Nm.
The BYD e6 in India currently offers the 71.8kWh battery, which is likely to continue with the updated model. The range with this battery has been increased by 8 km. It remains uncertain whether the smaller battery option will be available in India.
With the current e6 priced at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom), the facelifted eMax7 is expected to come at a higher price point. As an electric MPV, it currently has no direct competitors in the Indian market.
