All you need to know about the newly launched Force Gurkha worth 18 lakh

Force Motors, in India, has recently unveiled the Force Gurkha model offering options in both 5-door and 3-door versions. The price for the 5-door variant is set at Rs 18 lakh while the 3-door model comes in lower at Rs 16.75 lakh. Bookings for the Gurkha opened on April 29 with a deposit requirement of Rs 25,000. The company has confirmed that deliveries to dealers will kick off this week with test drives and customer deliveries scheduled to start in mid-May.

In the market, the main rival for the Force Gurkha is currently considered to be the Mahindra Thar, which is presently only available in a 3-door setup. The Thar distinguishes itself with features like petrol engine choices, various 2WD configurations, and automatic gearbox options. In contrast, the Gurkha is exclusively offered in diesel form with 4WD capabilities. For potential buyers comparing models, the Gurkhas price for its 3-door version sits at Rs 1.75 lakh higher than the Mahindra Thars diesel-powered AX Optional variant with a four-wheel drive system. As for the Gurkhas 5-door iteration, there isn't competition until Mahindra releases its anticipated Thar Armada version as a competitor.

The Force Gurkha comes with a 2.6 litre Mercedes diesel engine that now produces 140hp and 320Nm of torque an increase, from its power output of 91hp. This power boost makes the Gurkha more powerful than the Mahindra Thar, which has a 132hp 2.2-liter diesel engine.

In terms of technology, the Gurkha offers features such as a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, support, for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto a digital instrument cluster electrically adjustable outer rearview mirrors adjustable steering wheel position a rear camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system. These features set the Gurkha apart from the base model of the Thar with its level of equipment and higher price tag.
