2024 Bmw 3 Series Update What You Need To Know

2024 BMW 3 Series Update: What You Need to Know

BMW has unveiled the 2024 model year update for its popular 3 Series in the international market. These updates are anticipated to arrive in the Indian version soon. While the changes are subtle in terms of design and features, the primary focus is on the enhanced hybrid powertrains, which are not expected to be available in India. Here are the three key aspects of the updated BMW 3 Series that you need to know.

Minimal Design Changes

The design alterations have been kept to a minimum for the 2024 release to keep up with the classy appeal it has established in the market. Now, upon a closer look, it can be seen that there hasn’t been a drastic change in the frontal contour of the car from its previous model. This ranges from the normal places such as the bumper, air vents, bonnet, and light setup. However, BMW has introduced two new colour options for this update: Arctic Race Blue Metallic and Fire Red Metallic of course, which spices up the design in a way that brings out the oldies but goodies.

In terms of its profile, the updated 3 Series features a new design for the 19-inch alloy wheels. Buyers can choose between fully black wheels or a dual-tone shade, enhancing the vehicle's sporty appeal. The rear of the car also sees no design alterations, maintaining the continuity of its signature look.

Sharper Cabin

Inside the cabin, BMW has implemented minor design tweaks, offering a slightly refreshed feel to the updated 3 Series. While the overall layout remains largely unchanged, some elements have been redesigned for a more modern appearance. Notably, the air conditioning vents have been revamped, and carbon fibre elements have been added to the dashboard and centre console. The steering wheel has also been updated to a new flat-bottom unit, giving the interior a sharper and more contemporary look.

The feature list of the 3 Series remains comprehensive, with BMW making updates to its operating system. The 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system now runs on the latest software, ensuring a smoother and more intuitive user experience. Other notable features include a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, three-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and parking assist, all of which enhance the comfort and convenience of the driving experience.

Improved Powertrain

The most significant updates for the 2024 BMW 3 Series are found under the hood, specifically in the plug-in hybrid variant. Internationally, the hybrid version of the 3 Series now comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with a 19.5 kWh battery pack. This new setup, thanks to the larger battery, offers an impressive pure electric range of up to 101 kilometres, making it a more practical option for eco-conscious drivers.

However, this advanced powertrain is unlikely to be offered in India. Instead, the India-spec model is expected to continue with the existing engine options, which include a 190 PS 2.0-litre diesel unit, a 258 PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit, and a 374 PS 3.0-litre in-line six petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. All these engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, ensuring a blend of performance and efficiency.

Market Expectations

The updated BMW 3 Series is expected to hit the Indian market in the coming months, bringing with it a slight price increase over the current models. Presently, the BMW 3 Series is priced between ₹60.60 lakh and ₹72.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The new version is expected to carry a modest premium, reflecting the enhancements and updates it offers.

Competitors

In the Indian luxury sedan market, the BMW 3 Series faces stiff competition from the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4. With its updated design, enhanced features, and powerful engine options, the 2024 BMW 3 Series aims to strengthen its position in this highly competitive segment.

Conclusion

The 2024 BMW 3 Series update brings a mix of subtle design changes, interior enhancements, and significant powertrain improvements, particularly in the hybrid variant. Although the hybrid option might not be available in India, the continued availability of powerful and efficient petrol and diesel engines ensures that the 3 Series remains a compelling choice for luxury sedan buyers. As the updated model prepares to enter the Indian market, it promises to deliver the performance, luxury, and cutting-edge technology that BMW enthusiasts expect.
