Challans in Bhiwandi

Traffic jams, roadworks, choc-a-bloc traffic-Bhiwandi has it all. Prized for its natural ethnicity, the textile hub acts as a major trade centre that links Mumbai with the rest of India. Its industrial attraction translates to heavy crowds, and with heavy crowds comes a heavier risk of traffic rule violations.

As of 2020, traffic discrepancies had resulted in the deaths of approximately 12,000 people in Maharashtra. To curb this issue, Bhiwandi has started issuing challans to drivers who violate traffic rules and regulations. Since the population of Bhiwandi is estimated at 9,77,000, the city had to combine the efforts of traffic police officers with new-age traffic monitoring systems to stay on top of the task.

How to Check Challan in Bhiwandi?

You can check your Bhiwandi e-challan status via Parivahan, the official website of the government of India, or the MahaTraffic app on your mobile device.

If using Parivahan:

  1. Visit the Parivahan e-challan webpage.

  2. Enter your traffic challan number. If you don't have it, you can use your Vehicle number or Driving License number.

  3. Put in the captcha and click on "Get Detail".

  4. A list of challans will be displayed; click on one to check its status.

  5. In case your traffic challan is cleared, the screen will read "no challan found".

If using the MahaTraffic app:

  1. Register or sign in on the MahaTraffic app with your mobile number.

  2. You will receive an OTP on your registered number. This is for verification purposes, so when you enter it on the app, your registration is completed.

  4. Once you've added all the details, you can check the status of your e-challans.

How to Pay Challan in Bhiwandi?

There are two ways of paying challan in Bhiwandi: online and offline.

Online Method

There are two ways you can pay your challan online: through the Parivahan traffic e-challan portal or the state government's official transport website.

If paying via Parivahan:

  1. Head to the Parivahan e-challan portal.

  2. Input your challan number, vehicle number, or driving licence number - whatever you have on hand works.

  3. Put in the captcha code and click on "Get Details".

  4. A list of e-challans will appear; you can select one to check the details - what offence it was issued for and how much you have to pay in penalty.

  5. Choose the payment mode and make the payment.

  6. Upon payment, you'll receive confirmation along with a transaction ID.

If paying via the State Traffic Website:

  1. Visit the official Maharashtra website for traffic challans.

  2. Input your challan number or vehicle number. If you're using the vehicle number to check the details, you'll have to provide the last four digits of the engine chassis number.

  3. Put in the captcha and click on "Submit".

  4. Once you've entered all the details, you'll be redirected to the payment page. Choose the payment mode and make the payment for your traffic e-challan.

  5. Upon successful payment, you'll receive a confirmation message.

Offline Method

If you don't want to pay your traffic challan online, you can choose one of two options to proceed with offline payment.

  1. Visit the nearest traffic police station with the required documents (driving licence, address and identity proof, and traffic challan) to pay your fine in cash, and don't forget to collect the receipt!

  2. Find a local traffic officer with a handheld traffic e-challan payment device. You can swipe your card (debit or credit) to pay immediately.
