Driving Licence in Mumbai

A Mumbai driving licence is a government-issued document that confirms the holder is legally permitted to drive. It is issued by the Mumbai RTO (Regional Transport Office) on behalf of the Maharashtra Transport Department, once an applicant has met the required eligibility criteria and cleared the necessary tests.

Driving without a valid driving licence is a traffic offence under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and can lead to fines or other legal consequences. Given how busy Mumbai's roads are, holding a valid licence at all times is essential, both to stay within the law and to drive safely.
