A Driving Licence (DL) is an official document issued by the government. It allows you to legally drive a vehicle in Haryana. Every driving licence has a unique licence number and is issued by the Haryana Regional Transport Office (RTO) or the relevant transport authority in the state.
The document shows that you have passed the driving test and are legally allowed to drive a vehicle. Driving without a valid licence is an offence under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and may result in an e-challan.
A driving licence holds great importance in the life of motorists in Haryana.
The factors that make this document significant are:
Mandatory by law: A DL is a legal requirement and to get this document, you can proceed with the driving licence apply process on Parivahan.
Permission to drive a vehicle: A valid driving licence gives legal permission to the holder to drive a vehicle.
Avoid e-challan: Not having a licence is against the law and thus, can lead to fines. Having a DL helps avoid traffic fines.
Insurance claims: In case of mishaps, a valid driving licence may be required while processing motor insurance claims.
Identity and Address proof: It is also accepted as identity and address proof in India.
A driving licence contains the following details:
Driving licence number: Every driving licence has a unique licence number.
RTO and state: The issuing RTO and the state information.
Vehicle class: The class of vehicle this licence is issued to - LMV, HMV, etc.
Validity: The validity of the licence, after which it expires.
DL photo: The photo of the licence holder for quick verification.
Signature: The signature of the licence holder.
