Which Car Is Ruling The Compact Suv Market Tata Curvv Or Tata Nexon

Which car is ruling the compact SUV market? Tata Curvv or Tata Nexon.

Recently, the Tata Curvv made its official debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 in a closer-to-production avatar. This version, which has an internal combustion engine (ICE) and is meant to rival SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, is a more fashionable option for those looking to break into the small SUV market, which Tata's Nexon previously dominated.

What are the differences between Curvv and Nexon?

Different Designs And Styles

The Curvv's most distinctive feature is its coupe-style roofline that flows into its raised rear end. On the Curvv, Tata has also incorporated flush-fitting door handles, which may be a first for the segment if they make it into the production-spec model.

Compared to the Nexon's upright tailboard, the Curvv's taller rear profile and unique coupe-like roofline provide more boot space. It has 40 liters more boot space than the Nexon (422 liters), and the door handles fit flush for a more streamlined look.

Additional Features

  1. The carmaker fitted larger 18-inch alloy wheels on the Curvv's showcase version, while the Nexon's higher-spec models come with 16-inch units. The alloy wheels on the Curvv have a petal-like design. In contrast, the Nexon's wheels have plastic aero flaps inside the diamond-cut design (which, according to Tata, help to improve aerodynamic efficiency).

  2. The Curvv chooses a panoramic sunroof over the Nexon's single-pane sunroof, which increases the cabin's openness and lightness.

  3. Despite sharing many interior features with the Nexon, the Curvv's 2-spoke steering wheel is different. Rather, Tata has fitted it with a 4-spoke steering wheel that resembles a Harrier and has audio and calling controls in addition to the illuminated "Tata" logo.

  4. The Curvv has an even larger central screen than the Nexon, despite the latter receiving larger digital displays (10.25-inch each) for infotainment and instrumentation with its most recent midlife refresh. The new Nexon EV, which has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, has the same 12.3-inch unit.

  5. Six airbags and a 360-degree camera are among the nearly identical safety features that Tata is anticipated to offer on the Curvv as on the Nexon. However, adding some cutting-edge driver assistance systems will probably make things even better (ADAS). Features like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), rear-cross traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control should be included.

Price Difference:

Pricing for the Tata Curvv is anticipated to range from Rs. 15.00 lakh to Rs. 20.00 lakh, contingent upon the variant chosen. In contrast, the cost of the Tata Nexon falls between Rs. 8.10 lakh and Rs. 15.50 lakh. The Tata Curvv is expected to be more expensive than the Tata Nexon, putting it in a higher price range.

Four variants of the Curvv are expected to be offered, with the petrol manual version starting at Rs. 15.00 lakh as the base price. In contrast to the Curvv, the Nexon is more reasonably priced due to its lower starting price. Because of this, the Tata Curvv is priced higher than the Tata Nexon and provides a distinct feature set as well as what may be a more upscale driving experience.
