Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced the introduction of home delivery for its new cars and SUVs, a move that is upending the Indian auto industry. While this cutting-edge service is typical for high-end companies like Rolls Royce and Bentley, it is unprecedented for a popular manufacturer like Toyota in India.
What's the go behind this call?
By removing the possibility of dealer personnel driving brand-new cars to the delivery destination, the new effort seeks to extend vehicle logistic services till delivery touchpoints. Under the new program, Toyota Dealers will be able to use a flat-bed truck to move brand-new cars from dealer stockyards to their retail locations. This will guarantee that new cars, even in rural and semi-urban areas where last-mile logistics present difficulties, will arrive at the dealerships' final delivery outlets without having to be driven on the road.

The program is being implemented gradually, with around 130 Toyota dealerships in 26 states implementing this delivery model. Clients may now pick up their brand-new Toyota car at the dealer stockyard and have it safely delivered to the address of their choosing on a flatbed carrier. Unlike when driving the new car, the flatbed trucks protect against any damage caused by transit.
How will the plan be executed?
TKM has established partnerships with proficient logistics firms to guarantee smooth flatbed transportation. Having additional transit insurance offers even more security. Customers will benefit from this program, according to the carmaker, and won't pay anything extra. TKM believes that this cutting-edge delivery service demonstrates its dedication to prioritizing clients and creating unforgettable experiences for them during the car-buying process. It expands on prior initiatives such as the free roadside assistance program for five years.
"Offering movement of new cars from dealer stockyards to dealer showrooms through a carrier service, at no additional cost to the customers, will not only bring peace of mind but will also establish a uniform purchasing experience across all locations by effectively minimizing transit-related issues," said Sabari Manohar, Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, in response to the initiative.
