Tata Punch has exceeded two lakh production units in less than two years of its inception in the Indian market.
The Tata Punch production has exceeded over two lakh production units in less than two years since it was introduced to the Indian market, especially to the overcrowded segment of compact SUVs. The one lakh production milestone was achieved in August 2022, which is quite the feat.
The Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre, in-line, three-cylinder petrol engine coupled with a five-speed manual or an AMT unit that makes a good 86 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. The Tata Punch packs quite the features list that includes a seven-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument cluster, cruise control, projector headlamps, powered ORVMs, rear AC vents, engine start-stop system, LED DRLs, iRA connected car features among others.
The Tata Punch starts at Rs 6 lakh for the base variant and goes up to Rs 9.52 lakh ex-showroom for the top variant. It locks horns with the likes of the Renault Kiger, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Citroen C3 and Nissan Magnite, to name a few. This lot will also have the Hyundai Exter soon. The Tata Punch is offered in four variants: Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative, and nine colour schemes: Grassland Beige, Foliage Green, Tornado Blue, Calypso Red, Meteor Bronze, Atomic Orange, Tropical Mist, Daytona Grey, and Orcus White.
The Tata Punch EV has also been spotted testing in the country, and it comes as no surprise as the company already has the Tiago and the Nexon in the EV guise, which is doing well in the market. When it comes to looks, the Tata Punch EV looks quite the same as the ICE version, except for the rear disc brakes for the EV.
The Tata Punch will be slotted between the Tiago EV and the Nexon EV and can be expected to be offered in two range options: Standard and Long Range. The range of the Tata Punch can be expected to be around 300 km. Most of the features from the ICE are likely to be carried over to the EV counterpart. We can expect a price tag that starts from Rs 9-11 lakh.
