Tata Harrier and Safari Ultra Red Dark Diesel Variants Launched in India

Tata Motors has brought the bold Ultra Red Dark treatment to its diesel-powered Harrier and Safari, giving buyers of oil-burning variants the same striking aesthetics and fully loaded specification that petrol customers have enjoyed since January this year. With aggressive styling cues, a comprehensive features list, and a potent 2.0-litre turbo diesel under the bonnet, these new additions sit firmly at the top of the respective variant ladders.

  • The Ultra Red Dark trim arrives for diesel variants of both the Harrier and Safari, mirroring what was introduced on the petrol range in January 2026.

  • Both SUVs are offered in fully loaded specifications, with the Safari gaining an additional rear-seat ventilation package over the Harrier.

Tata Motors has expanded the variant lineup of both the Harrier and Safari diesel range by introducing the Ultra Red Dark trim. This particular variant was already offered on the petrol versions of both SUVs when they were unveiled in January 2026, and it now makes the logical jump to the diesel range, sitting as the new top-of-the-ladder option for oil-burning buyers.

Distinctive Styling That Leaves Nothing Understated

The Red Dark trim is not for those who prefer to blend in. It arrives with a black paint finish complemented by red lettering, red inserts within the headlamps and grille, and red brake callipers that add a sporty visual flourish.

Step inside and the theme continues, with a two-tone cabin finished in black over red, complete with leatherette seat upholstery.

Features That Leave No Box Unticked

Harrier Ultra Red Dark

The Harrier in Ultra Red Dark guise is as thoroughly equipped as any SUV at this price point. It receives ventilated front seats, dual digital screens, automatic climate control, Level 2 ADAS, Dolby Atmos audio, a dual dash cam setup, a sliding centre armrest, and 65W USB-C fast charging ports.

Safari Ultra Red Dark

The Safari carries forward all of the Harrier's features and adds a comprehensive rear-seat package on top, which includes ventilation for second-row occupants. Given the Safari's positioning as the more family-oriented of the two, this addition makes considerable sense.

The Diesel Engine and Transmission on Offer

Both the Harrier and Safari Ultra Red Dark diesel variants are powered by Tata's familiar 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, producing 168bhp and 350Nm of torque.

For this particular trim, the only transmission on offer is a six-speed automatic gearbox. Buyers looking for a manual option will need to consider the lower variants of either SUV, which do retain the six-speed manual as an alternative.

What You Can Expect to Pay

Tata has confirmed base pricing for the diesel Ultra variant, which sits at Rs 23.84 lakh for the Harrier and Rs 24.49 lakh for the Safari.

For context, the price difference between the Ultra and Ultra Red Dark in the petrol range is Rs 68,000 for the Harrier and Rs 50,000 for the Safari. A similar premium is expected for the diesel versions, though Tata is yet to officially release the full price list for the Red Dark diesel trims.
