Skodas New Automatic Gearbox What To Expect In 2025

Skoda’s New Automatic Gearbox: What to Expect in 2025

Skoda Auto has exciting news for car enthusiasts: a brand-new automatic gearbox is set to arrive in 2025. This upgrade will likely debut with the Kushaq facelift and replace the popular seven-speed DSG gearbox, which currently powers both Skoda and Volkswagen cars in India.

The change aims to improve torque, mileage, and overall driving experience while keeping prices competitive.

Better Torque, Smoother Drive

The upcoming gearbox promises higher torque output, enhancing the 1.5-litre engine's performance. Drivers can expect smoother gear shifts, better responsiveness, and improved handling in diverse road conditions.

Additionally, increased torque is anticipated to boost fuel efficiency, making Skoda’s automatic cars even more appealing to budget-conscious buyers.

Currently, the Slavia automatic offers an impressive mileage of 19.36 kmpl, while the Kushaq automatic clocks in at 18.86 kmpl.

With the new gearbox, these numbers could see a noticeable improvement, giving buyers better value for their money and reducing frequent visits to the fuel pump.

Focus on Local Production

Skoda is also exploring localized production for the new gearbox. By manufacturing it in India, the company aims to cut costs and make the cars more affordable for customers.

This move aligns with Skoda’s ongoing efforts to adapt to the Indian market and offer vehicles that deliver premium features without stretching buyers’ budgets.

Localization can also simplify repairs and maintenance since spare parts will be easier to source, making ownership hassle-free.

Simplifying Offerings for a Streamlined Future

Earlier, Skoda had discontinued the manual transmission (MT) option for its 1.5-litre engines. Now, buyers can only choose the two-pedal automatic transmission (AT) variant.

This strategic shift not only reduces manufacturing complexities but also allows Skoda to position its high-end models at more competitive prices.

By offering fewer but more advanced options, Skoda aims to refine its lineup and cater to the evolving preferences of its customers. Automatic cars are increasingly becoming a preferred choice in India, thanks to their convenience in traffic-heavy cities.

What This Means for Indian Buyers?

With the new gearbox, Skoda is setting its sights on a bigger slice of the Indian automotive market. By addressing key pain points such as mileage, drivability, and cost, the automaker hopes to attract a wider range of buyers.

For those who value a premium yet practical driving experience, this upcoming update could be a game-changer.

Overall, Skoda’s new automatic gearbox isn’t just about replacing the seven-speed DSG—it’s about offering a more efficient, powerful, and cost-effective driving solution. With better torque, improved mileage, and localized production, the brand is poised to strengthen its foothold in India.

For car enthusiasts and daily commuters alike, 2025 could bring a new era of smoother, smarter driving with Skoda.

Stay tuned for more updates as Skoda gears up for this exciting launch!
