Skoda Kylaq Spied In Near Production Guise Ahead Of Launch

Skoda Kylaq Spied in Near Production Guise Ahead of Launch

Skoda is set to enter the competitive sub-4m SUV segment with the upcoming Skoda Kylaq, a move that is crucial for expanding its market presence in India. Recently, test mules of the Kylaq have been spotted in a near-production form, hinting at a November 6th launch. The Kylaq will compete with popular models like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet, positioning Skoda for growth in the segment.

Key Features of the Skoda Kylaq

Platform:
The Kylaq is based on the MQB A0 IN platform, shared with other Skoda and Volkswagen models such as the Kushaq, Slavia, Volkswagen Taigun, and Virtus. This platform promises robustness and a long wheelbase, which enhances cabin space.

Exterior Design:
The Kylaq features a modern and bold look, staying true to Skoda’s new Modern Solid design language. Spied images reveal a split headlight design, with LED DRLs on top and the headlights positioned below. Other notable design elements include:

  • 16-inch alloy wheels with a unique design.

  • Side body cladding, faux roof rails, and an upright bonnet, giving the SUV a rugged appeal.

  • Thick C-pillars and minimal overhangs, contributing to its compact yet solid stance.

Interior Expectations:
Although the interior hasn’t been revealed yet, it's expected to share similarities with other Skoda models like the Slavia and Kushaq. Likely features include:

  • Sunroof

  • Potential for ventilated seats and a 360-degree camera.

Powertrain Details

The Skoda Kylaq will likely be powered by a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, expected to deliver 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, similar to the Kushaq. Transmission options may include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Launch and Competition

The Skoda Kylaq is part of Skoda’s India 2.5 strategy, aimed at revitalizing its position in the Indian market. Set to launch on November 6th, the Kylaq will be up against well-established players in the sub-4m SUV category, including the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, and others.

As the official debut approaches, more details about the SUV’s features, pricing, and performance are expected to surface. Stay tuned for more updates on Skoda’s bold new entrant into the Indian sub-4m SUV market. The Kylaq’s entry marks a significant moment for Skoda, signaling the brand's intent to compete in one of India's fastest-growing automotive segments.
