Skoda Epiq: India’s Upcoming Electric SUV Revolution

Skoda’s Epiq brings a fresh “Modern Solid” design, practical interior, and an expected 400km range in a compact electric SUV, aiming to offer value in India with clever storage, a minimalistic cabin, and a competitive price when it arrives.

Skoda is gearing up to enter the compact electric SUV segment with the Epiq, set for a global unveiling next year and production launch in 2026. Positioned below current models, the Epiq promises around 400km of driving range, sleek styling, and “Simply Clever” details that suit Indian families seeking an efficient city runabout.

Modern Solid Design Language

The Epiq reflects Skoda’s new “Modern Solid” design, featuring a clean front fascia with slim LED daytime running lights, a smooth grille area hiding sensors, and a pronounced power bulge on the bonnet.

Squared-off wheel arches, a floating roof effect with blacked-out pillars, and a sporty T-shaped LED signature at the rear give it a confident stance in urban traffic.

Minimalistic and Practical Interior

Inside, Skoda continues its emphasis on simplicity: a large central touchscreen handles most controls, while a compact digital instrument display provides key data.

Physical buttons and haptic scroll wheels on the steering wheel ensure easy use without clutter. “Simply Clever” storage options—such as hidden underfloor compartments and bag hooks—add practicality for daily groceries or family outings. Recycled materials underline its electric nature without compromising comfort.

Range and Powertrain Options

Skoda plans to offer the Epiq with at least two battery sizes, with the larger pack targeting over 400km of range on a single charge under WLTP metrics.

A compact electric motor setup is expected to suit city driving and occasional highway runs, balancing efficiency and performance. Final technical specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.

Space and Practicality

At about 4.1 metres in length, the Epiq maximises interior room with a long wheelbase and a flat EV floor, yielding around 490 litres of boot space—roughly 20% more than its predecessor in the segment.

Five occupants can travel comfortably, making it suitable for small families or urban professionals who value flexibility.

Production and Pricing Outlook

Manufactured in Pamplona, Spain, as part of a VW Group collaboration, the Epiq targets an entry-level EV price around €25,000 (roughly ₹20–23 lakh) in European markets.

If brought to India, localization efforts and incentives for EVs could influence final pricing; experts believe Skoda may position it to rival other compact electric crossovers.

Potential Fit for India

India’s shift to electric mobility and growing urban traffic make Epiq’s compact size, 400km range, and clever storage appealing. Skoda’s service network and offerings could enhance the ownership experience.

Indian buyers can look forward to an electric SUV that balances practicality, design, and range without premium-size burdens.

In summary, Skoda’s Epiq promises to democratize electric SUVs with its Modern Solid design, practical cabin, and competitive range. When it arrives, likely in 2026 globally and later in India, it may offer an attractive package for city users and small families seeking an engaging, efficient EV solution.
