Focused projects and emissions-reducing measures at Maruti Suzuki under the auspices of new product strategies. The first such project is the Fronx strong hybrid, gradually released in 2026. The company's in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain was kept for mass-market vehicles, priced within improved efficiency and cost benefits for customers.
Maruti's New Hybrid Era
Fronx will also have Maruti series-hybrid systems, unlike the Toyota-derived hybrids of Grand Vitara and Invicto. The hybrid system will comprise a petrol engine of 3-cyl Z12E 1.2-litre, which is a generator to recharge the battery, and another electric motor that drives the wheels: both allow smoother and cleaner performance.
Such an act is applicable to Fronx only. Maruti has a strong hybrid strategy for next-generation versions of Swift, Baleno, Brezza, and a new sub-compact MPV. While the Swift and Baleno hybrids will arrive by early 2025, we understand that the Brezza hybrid will debut sometime in 2029 along with its generation update.
Expect Segment-beating Mileage
Among the other major highlights, the Fronx hybrid will also be famed for fuel economy. Preliminary reports suggest the new hybrid system could go over 35 kmpl, effective enough to make it among the most fuel-efficient compact SUVs in India. The issue is that it will resonate well with mileage-conscious customers.
Familiar styling, with possibly some tech upgrades
Design won't extend beyond the standard ICE Fronx, with only minor variations such as 'Hybrid-going into the traditional-for-a-hybrid space.
