Maruti e-Vitara: Launch expected in December 2025

Maruti Suzuki enters the electric SUV space with the e-Vitara, offering up to 500km range, advanced tech, and bold styling to take on rivals like Tata, MG, Hyundai, and Mahindra. The model will come in 3 trims: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Check out the complete details.

Maruti Suzuki is all set to finally unveil its highly anticipated e-Vitara is expected to launch in December, after its showcase at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. Marking the company's first-ever Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the e-Vitara is being manufactured in India for both domestic and global markets.

Variants & Powertrain

The e-Vitara will be available in three trims: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha — all Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) only. It comes with two powertrain options, offering a claimed maximum driving range of 500km on a single charge, making it one of the longest-range EVs in its class.

Exterior & Dimensions

The e-Vitara measures 4.27 metres in length with a 2.7-metre wheelbase, placing it among the largest SUVs in the mid-size electric segment. The styling is modern and robust, designed to appeal to both urban and semi-urban buyers looking for a premium yet practical EV.

Interior & Features

Inside, the e-Vitara gets a completely new infotainment system and becomes the first Maruti model to offer Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) — though these features have since been surpassed by the recently launched Victoris SUV.

Expected Price

While official prices are yet to be announced, industry estimates place the starting price around ₹17–22.50 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it competitively in the premium electric SUV market.

Rivals in the Segment

The e-Vitara enters a rapidly heating EV segment and will compete against:

  • MG ZS EV

  • Tata Curvv EV

  • Hyundai Creta Electric

  • Mahindra BE 6

  • Kia Carens Clavis EV

  • Future EVs from Toyota, VW-Skoda, Honda, and the Renault-Nissan Alliance

Maruti’s Future EV Strategy

The success of the e-Vitara will likely determine Maruti Suzuki’s EV roadmap. If the model performs well, electric versions of popular models like the Fronx, Jimny, Baleno, and Ertiga could follow. However, the company has clarified that it will continue to pursue a multi-powertrain strategy, offering petrol, CNG, CBG (compressed biogas), hybrids, and EVs to cater to different market segments.

The Maruti e-Vitara is a crucial step for India’s largest automaker as it ventures into the electric future. With competitive specs, a strong brand name, and aggressive localization, the e-Vitara could become a game-changer—if it delivers on range, price, and reliability.
