Mahindras Sales Surge In October Scorpio Xuv700 And Bolero Lead The Pack

Mahindra's Sales Surge in October: Scorpio, XUV700, and Bolero Lead the Pack

Mahindra marked a remarkable month in October 2024, setting a new sales record. Known as one of India’s leading car brands, Mahindra’s growth last month highlighted the brand’s increasing popularity across its key models, with Scorpio, XUV700, and Bolero among the top sellers.

This trend was not just a one-month phenomenon; it reflects Mahindra’s steady climb in market share, along with a demand surge for SUVs across India.

October Sales Surge for Mahindra

Mahindra reported an impressive 54,504 units sold in October 2024, achieving a 25% increase compared to the same period last year. This figure represented a significant month-over-month (MoM) growth from September 2024’s 51,062 units.

Mahindra also gained a market share boost, climbing to 13.7%. The company is India’s third-largest carmaker, following Maruti and Hyundai, and these latest figures solidify its position.

Top Sellers: Scorpio, XUV700, and Bolero

The Scorpio, a long-time favorite among Indian buyers, led the charge with 15,677 units sold. This number represented a 15% increase compared to October 2023 and a 9% MoM increase over September 2024.

The Scorpio’s blend of rugged performance and style has kept it at the forefront of Mahindra’s lineup, especially popular among those seeking powerful SUVs.

The XUV700, which continues to capture the spotlight for its technology and comfort, ranked next with 10,435 units sold. This figure marked a 12% YoY increase and an 8% rise from the previous month.

Bolero, another Mahindra staple, saw a slight increase in annual sales, up by 2% with 9,849 units. However, MoM sales showed a larger leap of 20%, reflecting a renewed interest in this affordable, durable SUV option.

Thar and XUV3XO Gain Momentum

Mahindra’s Thar, renowned for its off-road capabilities, continued its popularity in October with 7,944 units sold. While this represented a 42% YoY jump, the model saw a slight 10% dip in MoM figures. Despite this, the Thar remains a sought-after choice among off-roading enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

One of the more surprising stars was the XUV3XO, whose sales nearly doubled year-on-year, reaching 9,562 units compared to 4,865 units in October 2023.

This compact SUV’s success may be attributed to its blend of urban-friendly features and robust performance, appealing to a younger, city-focused audience.

Electric XUV400 Shows Growth in EV Segment

In the electric vehicle (EV) category, Mahindra’s XUV400 posted significant gains, achieving a 56% YoY growth with 1,000 units sold. The increasing acceptance of EVs in India and Mahindra’s competitive positioning in this segment contributed to this rise.

Although the numbers are modest compared to their gas counterparts, they signal an increasing consumer interest in sustainable options.

Decline in Marazzo Sales

While most of Mahindra’s lineup saw impressive growth, the Marazzo experienced a 58% decline in sales, selling only 37 units compared to 89 in October 2023.

Despite this drop, the model did achieve a surprising 425% MoM improvement from September, indicating some ongoing, if limited, demand.

Future Outlook: Upcoming Electric SUVs

Looking ahead, Mahindra is set to unveil two new electric SUVs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e, on November 26, 2024. These launches underscore Mahindra’s ambitions to expand its footprint in both the Indian and global EV markets.

With India’s EV market projected to grow rapidly, Mahindra’s new models could be pivotal in establishing the company as a leader in this segment.

In summary, Mahindra’s October 2024 performance highlights the brand’s ability to meet the evolving preferences of Indian consumers, particularly in the SUV category.

With robust sales figures and promising new electric offerings on the horizon, Mahindra is well-positioned to sustain this momentum. Whether it’s through its popular Scorpio and Bolero or its pioneering moves in the EV space, Mahindra continues to capture India’s automotive market.
