Mahindra Thar Reduced Waiting Times For Suv Enthusiasts

Mahindra Thar: Reduced Waiting Times for SUV enthusiasts

The Mahindra Thar, an automotive icon in the Indian SUV landscape, has been experiencing remarkable success, with monthly shipments consistently surpassing 5,700 units. However, despite its popularity, there was a notable backlog of around 71,000 Thar units, including the RWD version.

In response to the surging demand, Mahindra has undertaken proactive measures to significantly increase production, resulting in a substantial reduction in waiting times. This development comes as a welcome relief for prospective buyers eagerly anticipating the ownership of this iconic SUV.

For the Thar 4x2 (RWD) diesel variant, the waiting period has now been notably reduced to a more manageable 10-11 months. Similarly, individuals interested in the petrol Thar 4x2 can now expect a waiting period of 5-6 months. These waiting times represent a significant improvement from the 15-16 months reported in October 2023.

The diesel Thar 4x2 boasts a 1.5-litre engine, generating 118hp and 300Nm of torque, seamlessly paired with a responsive 6-speed manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the petrol version houses the potent 2.0-litre turbocharged unit from the Thar 4x4, producing 152hp and 300Nm of torque, complemented by a smooth 6-speed torque converter automatic. The pricing spectrum for the Thar 4x2 ranges from a competitive Rs 11.25 lakh to Rs 13.99 lakh.

Shifting the focus to the Thar 4x4, the waiting period has witnessed a remarkable reduction to just 2-3 months. This positive development underscores the tangible impact of Mahindra's dedicated efforts to streamline production and effectively address the surge in demand. The Thar 4x4 stands out with its versatility, offering two engine options – the aforementioned 152hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol mStallion engine, and a 132hp, 2.2-litre diesel unit. Setting itself apart from the 2WD variants, the 4x4 models provide optional 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes, along with a manual-shift 4x4 transfer case. Select variants even boast a manual-locking differential, enhancing the SUV's off-road capabilities.

Examining the pricing spectrum, the Mahindra Thar 4x4 petrol variant currently ranges between Rs 14.30 lakh and Rs 16.60 lakh. Meanwhile, the diesel counterparts are competitively priced between Rs 15.00 lakh and Rs 17.20 lakh.

This development not only underscores the sustained popularity of the Mahindra. This also reflects the company's unwavering commitment to addressing customer demand by ensuring timely deliveries and minimizing waiting periods.

Mahindra's continuous endeavors align seamlessly with its dedication to providing a positive and timely buying experience for SUV enthusiasts across the country. This reinforces the Thar's position as a sought-after choice in the Indian SUV landscape, combining iconic design, off-road prowess, and now, reduced waiting times, making it an even more appealing option for those looking to embark on adventures with this automotive legend.
