Kia Syros: Upcoming B-SUV Above the Sonet

Kia's upcoming B-SUV, the Syros, will sit above the popular Sonet in the brand’s India lineup.

Teased recently, this model is part of Kia’s 2.0 program, following the Carnival and EV9. The Syros will offer a modern design, features, and a petrol engine option.

Scheduled for launch in March 2025, here's everything we know about the Syros so far.

  • Teaser Reveal: Kia has confirmed that the new B-SUV will be named Syros, and it is set for launch in India in early 2025.

Exterior and Interior Styling

The Kia Syros will feature a boxy yet modern design, drawing inspiration from the EV9 and Carnival.

  • LED headlights for a modern look

  • New front bumper for a sporty edge

Side Profile

  • Flush-fitting door handles

  • Blacked-out ORVMs mounted on the A-pillar

  • Dual-tone alloy wheels

  • Two-piece LED taillights mounted vertically

  • Rear bumper with a number plate recess

Inside, the Syros is expected to offer dual-tone upholstery that enhances its premium feel.

Engine & Specifications

The Syros is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, NA petrol engine. This motor, already available in the Sonet, produces 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque in its current state.

Transmission options will include:

  • Five-speed manual

  • AMT (Automated Manual Transmission)

These engine options will offer a balanced combination of performance and efficiency suited for city driving.

Convenience and Technology

Kia has promised a range of class-leading features for the Syros, including:

  • 360-degree camera

  • ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite

  • Panoramic sunroof for an airy cabin

  • Two-spoke multifunction steering wheel

  • Dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment

  • Ventilated front seats

  • Automatic climate control and cruise control

These technologies are aimed at providing a premium and convenient driving experience.

Safety Features

Safety will be a key priority in the Syros, with the base variants offering the following standard features:

  • Dual airbags

  • ABS with EBD

  • Reverse parking sensors

  • Seatbelt reminder system

  • Speed alert system

The higher variants are expected to include additional features such as:

  • Side and curtain airbags

  • ESP (Electronic Stability Program)

  • TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

  • Hill Hold Control (HHC)

  • Hill Descent Control (HDC)

  • Reverse parking camera

The Kia Syros is shaping up to be a strong competitor in the compact SUV segment.
