Kia Confirms Global Unveil Date for the Compact EV2 Crossover

The Kia EV2 is expected to make its global premiere on January 9, 2026, debuting as the brand’s smallest and most affordable electric crossover yet. Designed to extend EV accessibility to a wider audience, it blends dramatic concept-inspired appearance, a practical 400-volt architecture, and estimated ranges of 350–400 km. With its name already copyrighted in India, the EV2 might potentially become an enticing entry-level alternative for shoppers wanting a compact, city-friendly electric SUV.

  • The premiere of the Kia EV2, the smallest electric crossover from the Korean automaker, is slated for January 9, 2026.

  • What we know so far about the EV2’s design, platform, battery expectations and its likely arrival in India.

The Korean carmaker will introduce its all-new electric crossover, the Kia EV2, at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show on January 09, 2026. This next EV is being positioned as the company’s smallest, most affordable electric vehicle internationally, marking the new entry point in Kia’s electric portfolio.

Although the corporation has not yet formally confirmed any intentions for an India launch, there is a fair probability that this model will ultimately find its way to our market because the name "EV2" was patented in India back in 2023.

Design and Appearance: Intact Concept Roots

From teaser photographs supplied by the firm, it looks like the production-spec EV2 will be fairly similar to the initial concept design. The front fascia is claimed to have crisp, vertically placed LED lights on each side, matched by a powerful lower skid plate and hefty paneling.

The small SUV has a strong, urban crossover stance thanks to its "boxy" proportions, clean roofline, and swept-up window line. The rear design comprises low-mounted LED tail-lamps (very similar to another future vehicle, the Kia Syros), a roof spoiler, and thick lower-body cladding.

Under the Hood: Platform, Battery and Range Expectations

Kia has not yet shared comprehensive mechanical specifications for the EV2. However, it’s widely expected to be built on the 400-volt electric platform used by other compact EVs in the group, such as the Hyundai Inster.

With possibilities between 42 kWh and 49 kWh, the battery capacity is probably going to be similar to that of the Inster. Performance-wise, EV2 is projected to have a single front-mounted motor (front-wheel drive), offering a real-world driving range in the region of 350–400 km per charge.

What This Means for Buyers

For buyers looking for a practical, tiny EV, the Kia EV2 could be an attractive option, especially in cities, where a smaller size and good range are valuable. Rugged crossover appeal and urban-friendly dimensions appear to be balanced in its design.

Importantly, because Kia has the EV2 name trademark in India, there’s a possibility it will someday be marketed here, potentially at a more accessible price range compared to larger, expensive EVs. That said, until official confirmation, the dates and localisation details remain undetermined.
