Hyundai Inster EV Earns 4-Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating: Here's the Breakdown

Hyundai Inster EV is a fashionable and small electric crossover, and it successfully underwent the strict Euro NCAP crash inspection, claiming a 4-star rating. This is an electric city car that not only excels in its looks and functions, but it also performs relatively well with regard to safety in various types of collisions.

Since its introduction to the market, the Hyundai Inster EV has been grabbing the headlines and now it has even achieved a milestone in the big show - Euro NCAP credited the car with a 4-star rating in the crash safety tests.

An urban subcompact electric car created as a smaller form of the crossover Hyundai Casper, the Inster EV is the electric sibling of the previously-mentioned model, a vehicle targeting an urban customer who is interested in a small, affordable, practical, and energy-saving machine.

After being named the 2025 World Electric Vehicle, the impressive performance of the Inster EV in crash tests gives it greater grounds to establish its name in the highly competitive EV industry.

Crash Test Performance: Performance of the Inster EV

The Euro NCAP tested the 2025 Hyundai Inster EV under its normal tough crash testing standards, the frontal impact, side impact, side pole impact, and the evaluation of pedestrian safety, and active driver assistance.

Key Ratings Breakdown:

  • Adult Occupant Safety: 70% (28.3/40 points)

  • Frontal Impact: 11.3/16

  • Side Impact: 10.9/16

  • Rear Impact: 3.5/4

  • Rescue: 3.5/4

  • Child Occupant Safety: 81% (40.1/49 points)

  • Crash Tests: 22.1/24

  • CRS Installation: 12/12

  • Safety Features: 6/13

  • Vulnerable Road Users: 70% (44.2 points)

  • Safety Assist Systems: 67% (12.1 points)

Safety Equipment and Features

The test model was highly equipped with front and side airbags, ISOFIX mounts, seat belt reminders, belt pretensioners, but it did not place a knee air bag.

Active safety, as far as concerns, it includes:

  • Car, bike and pedestrian Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)

  • Lane-keeping assist

  • Speed assistance

  • Fatigue driver identification

Regardless of the narrow size of the model that belongs to the City and Supermini segment, the Inster EV performed well in several general safety indicators, owing to its well-considered combination of passive and active safety tools.

In conclusion

The Hyundai Inster EV weighs only 1,358 kg, and has been built with the idea of urban mobility, which makes it much smaller than most of the other vehicles with similar safety ratings. The fact that it has a high 4-star Euro NCAP means it is among the most balanced cars in the segment of entry-level EVs.
