The biggest initiative to relax the hassle of driving on the highways, the much-anticipated Annual FASTag Pass, is now listed on the official website of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) ahead of its implementation from August 15, 2025. It is a new system that will enable you to make 200 toll-free rides or journeys for one year on the national highways, whichever is earlier.
What is the Annual FASTag Pass?
The Annual FASTag Pass is already posted on the NHAI official site and is intended to make toll payments painless in the case of regular users. Users will be allowed to make a one-time recharge that will guarantee them 200 toll-free trips for one year, whichever comes first, rather than paying the toll tax time after time.
This facility does not need a separate FASTag, as is the case with other passes. This will be connected automatically to the already created tag of the user, and hence the process is smooth.

Pre-Booking and Activation Process
The pre-booking of the Annual FASTag Pass would start after July 1, 2025, through the NHAI website and the Highway Yatra app. A specific connection has already been provided on the two platforms.
After the booking of a pass, the activation will be completed in less than two hours, which will be convenient and fast to the consumer.
Who is going to Benefit the Most?
The initiative is very useful to the people who visit national highways and expressways quite frequently including daily commuters, transporters, logistics companies, and business travellers. It will save time as well as expenditure, and it will not be an up and down process of having to replenish the FASTag accounts after each trip.

Uncovered State Highways
It can be noted that only National highways and the expressways can use the Annual FASTag Pass.
By doing so, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) wants to facilitate a cashless mode of transportation, to avoid traffic at the toll booths and also make the efficiency of the Indian highway network better.
