The 7-Seater MPV Nissan Gravite, Targeted in India to Launch Early in 2026

With the introduction of the brand-new Gravite MPV, a small, three-row people-mover targeted at budget-conscious family shoppers, Nissan is getting ready to bolster its range in India. Nissan has disclosed that the MPV would make its debut in early 2026, formally confirming the Gravite brand and its launch schedule. The Gravite, which is based on the tried-and-true CMF-A+ platform, will have familiar petrol powerplant options, updated looks, and useful seating designed especially for Indian roads and usage.

  • Nissan's announcement of the Gravite brand for their forthcoming MPV is examined in this article.

  • Prior to the India launch, it also covers important aspects like the design, schedule, platform, and market positioning.

The Gravite is the official name of Nissan Motor India's future compact multipurpose vehicle (MPV). The news is a big step toward the brand's updated product strategy for the Indian market, which aims to expand its inventory beyond the Magnite SUV.

A market launch and pricing announcement are anticipated by March 2026, following the Gravite nameplate's public debut in January 2026.

An Innovative Approach to a Well-Known Platform and Design Base

The CMF-A+ platform, which powers the Renault Triber, is the foundation for the Gravite. Nissan has added unique stylistic elements to give it a better brand identification, even though it shares the Triber's small three-row dimensions and under-4-meter length.

A reworked front grille, revamped bumpers, and distinctive alloy wheels are all seen in the teaser photos that Nissan posted. By keeping its useful shape, these design modifications allow the Gravite differentiate itself from its platform twin.

The interior architecture of the cabin is anticipated to be similar to that of the Triber, but with Nissan-specific features and colour schemes. A touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital instruments, wireless phone charging, and practical creature comforts for families are among the features that will probably be available. A rearview camera, parking sensors, TPMS, and 6 airbags are examples of safety equipment.

Powertrain and Alternatives

The 1.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine that powers the Triber, Magnite, and other comparable vehicles is probably what the Gravite will have under the hood.

When combined with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option, this engine should provide competitive performance for both city and highway driving, appealing to a wider variety of consumers.

Later on, Nissan might potentially provide a CNG alternative in line with its competitors.

The Gravite's Impact on Nissan in India

After the Magnite SUV, Nissan's third mainstream model in India will be the Gravite, expanding the company's local lineup. The Gravite immediately competes with other useful 7-seater MPVs in the compact segment, positioned below the Magnite in both price and size.

Additionally, Nissan intends to grow by introducing new models in the upcoming years, such as the Tekton SUV and a larger seven-seater SUV by 2027.
