Hyundai has issued a recall for a total of 7,698 units of the Hyundai Creta SUV and Verna sedan in India. The recall affects variants that are equipped with the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and come with the CVT automatic transmission. The reason for the recall is a potential issue with the electronic oil pump controller, which could impact the performance of the electronic oil pump. The affected units were manufactured between February 13, 2023, and June 06, 2023.
Hyundai has not confirmed whether the vehicles affected by the recall are safe to be driven in their current state. Owners of the Creta and Verna models falling under the recall have been advised to contact their nearest Hyundai dealer or reach out to the customer service center at 1800-114-645 for further details.
It is expected that Hyundai dealerships will reach out to customers individually to schedule the necessary service actions as part of the recall. Owners are encouraged to promptly check if their vehicles are impacted by the recall to ensure the safety and performance of their vehicles.
In addition to the affected 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engines with CVT automatics, the Hyundai Creta and Verna are also available with other powertrain options. These include a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, paired with transmission choices such as a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Owners are advised to stay informed and get their vehicles inspected promptly if part of the affected recall is to maintain the optimal health of their vehicles.
