Hyundai Creta steals the show as India’s favorite car in March 2025, with Maruti Swift and Tata Punch on its heels.

Well, car fans!

March 2025 was a wild ride for car sales in India, and we’ve got the juicy details on the top 10 cars and SUVs that ruled the roads. From zippy hatchbacks to SUVs, the numbers are in and packed with surprises.

Let’s dive into the action and see which rides stole the spotlight!

Hyundai Creta: The King of the Road

The Hyundai Creta is living its best life, snagging the top spot as India’s best-selling car and SUV in March 2025. With 18,059 units sold, it’s not just a car—it’s a vibe!

Compared to last year’s 16,458 units, Creta’s sales jumped by 9.73%, adding 1,601 more happy drivers. Whether it’s the sleek design or the comfy ride, Creta’s hooked everyone.

Maruti Swift: The Speedy Runner-Up

Zooming into second place is the Maruti Swift, a fan favorite that’s all about fun and flair. It sold 17,746 units, a solid 12.83% leap from 15,728 units in March 2024. That’s 2,018 more Swifts cruising the streets!

With its sporty look and peppy engine, it’s no wonder this hatchback is a hit with young drivers.

Tata Punch: The Compact Champ

Tata Punch punched above its weight, landing third with 17,714 units sold. It’s super close to Swift, missing second place by just a hair. Compared to last year’s 17,547 units, Punch grew by a modest 0.95%, adding 167 units. This mini SUV is perfect for city adventures, blending style and practicality like a pro.

Maruti WagonR: The Family Favorite

Rolling into fourth is the Maruti WagonR, a trusty ride for families everywhere. It moved 17,175 units, up 4.93% from 16,368 units last year, gaining 807 units. Its spacious interior and wallet-friendly price make it a go-to for those who want comfort without breaking the bank.

Maruti Ertiga: The MPV Maestro

The Maruti Ertiga takes fifth place, proving MPVs are still cool. With 16,804 units sold, it saw a strong 12.87% growth from last year, adding 1,917 units. Perfect for big families or road trips with friends, Ertiga’s versatility keeps it in the game.

Maruti Brezza: The Urban Warrior

Sixth on the list is the Maruti Brezza, a compact SUV that’s all about bold vibes. It sold 16,546 units, up 13.22% from 14,614 units in March 2024, with 1,932 more units hitting the roads. Brezza’s rugged charm and techy features make it a city slicker’s dream.

Tata Nexon: The Stylish Contender

Tata Nexon cruises into seventh with 16,366 units sold, a hefty 16.42% jump from 14,058 units last year, adding 2,308 units. This SUV’s sleek design and safety features are winning hearts, making it a strong player in the top 10.

Hyundai Venue: The Compact Cruiser

Eighth place goes to the Hyundai Venue, another SUV that’s keeping things fresh. It sold 10,441 units, up 8.60% from 9,614 units in March 2024, with 827 more units. Venue’s modern look and zippy performance make it a solid pick for urban explorers.

Maruti Grand Vitara: The Comeback Kid

The ninth spot belongs to the Maruti Grand Vitara, which sold 10,418 units. But here’s the twist—it’s down 7.25% from last year’s 11,232 units, losing 814 units. Still, its premium feel and hybrid options keep it in the race.

Mahindra Thar: The Off-Road Beast

Rounding out the top 10 is the Mahindra Thar, a rugged icon that sold 8,936 units. It’s up a massive 47.73% from 6,049 units last year, adding 2,887 units. Thar’s off-road swagger and bold style make it a favorite for adventure junkies.

SUV Showdown: Creta Leads, Others Follow

When it comes to SUVs alone, Creta’s 18,059 units make it untouchable. Tata Punch follows with 17,714 units, then Brezza with 16,546, Nexon with 16,366, and Mahindra Scorpio with 13,913.

Maruti Fronx sneaks in with 13,669 units, while Venue, Grand Vitara, Thar, and Mahindra Bolero wrap up the top 10 SUVs.

Total SUV sales hit 1,68,130 units, up 4.16% from last year—proof that India’s love for SUVs is only growing!

What’s Driving the Trends?

So, what’s the deal with these numbers? SUVs are the stars, with Creta, Punch, and Brezza leading the charge. But hatchbacks like Swift and WagonR are still holding strong, showing there’s room for everyone. Buyers are loving cars that mix style, space, and value—whether it’s for city commutes or weekend getaways. Plus, brands like Hyundai and Maruti are nailing it with fresh designs and tech that keep drivers coming back.

Overall, March 2025 was a blockbuster month for car sales, and the top 10 list is proof that India’s car market is buzzing. From Creta’s domination to Thar’s off-road charm, there’s something for every driver out there. As new models hit the scene and trends keep shifting, we can’t wait to see who takes the crown next month.
