Mahindra Drops a Fresh Design Studio in India!

Mahindra’s slick new Mumbai studio is here to level up car designs, support last-mile rides, and team up with Europe—packed with over 100 creators and high-tech gear!

On April 7, 2025, Mahindra and Mahindra flipped the switch on their shiny new Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in Mumbai. Not a glow-up but a full-on upgrade from their old setup that kicked off back in 2015.

It is located inside their Kandivali plant, this studio is twice as big and buzzing with over 100 talented designers ready to dream up the next big thing.

What’s Cooking at MIDS?

So, what’s the deal with this new spot? MIDS is Mahindra’s powerhouse for designing everything from tiny last-mile delivery rides to massive trucks and buses. Yup, they’re covering all the bases: commercial stuff for businesses and sweet rides for regular folks, too. The studio’s got the muscle to handle Mahindra’s growing auto lineup, plus their fresh Last Mile Mobility (LME) division. Think small tractors, zippy delivery vehicles, and even full-on truck cabins—all born right here!

They’ve got three modeling plates (fancy work zones) and a 5-axis robot whip up life-sized clay models. One of those plates is huge—big enough to sculpt an entire truck cabin. How cool is that?

High-Tech Vibes and a Paint Shop, Too!

This isn’t some basic workshop. MIDS is decked out with all the modern goodies designers need. Tech like HMI (that’s Human-Machine Interface, aka the screens and buttons you poke in a car).

Oh, and get this—they’ve got their paint shop! No more waiting around to slap some color on clay models or car panels. Designers can tweak stuff fast, and the management can swoop in for quick reviews. Time saved, wins scored!

Teaming Up with Europe

MIDS isn’t flying solo. It’s got a partner in crime—Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE)- chilling in the UK. Together, these two hubs are set to crank out some seriously dope designs.

Pratap Bose, Mahindra’s Chief Design and Creative Officer, spilled the tea at the launch. He said both centers will vibe together, but he’s stoked that this India upgrade means they can snag and keep top-tier talent right at home. No brain drain here—just pure creative juice staying in India!

Why This Matters

Mahindra’s dropping big bucks into this studio for a reason. With over 100 designers (that’s 100+ brilliant brains!), they’re ready to tackle anything.

The old 2015 studio was solid, but this new one? It’s next-level.

Doubling the space means more room for ideas, tools, and epic creations. Plus, with that paint shop and modeling tech, they’re cutting delays and boosting speed.

What’s Next?

With MIDS fired up, Mahindra’s ready to roll out some head-turning rides. From eco-friendly last-mile movers to rugged trucks, this studio’s got the tools and the crew to make it happen. And with the Europe crew pitching in, we’re betting on some global-level magic.

Overall, Mahindra’s new Mumbai design studio is a total game-changer. Bigger, Bolder, and it’s bursting with over 100 designers ready to shape the future of wheels. Whether it’s tiny tractors or massive trucks, MIDS is where the magic starts. Plus, that paint shop and UK teamwork? Straight-up geniusness.
