Tata.ev Expands India’s EV Charging Network – 4 Lakh Charging Points by 2027
In a significant push toward accelerating electric vehicle adoption in India, Tata.ev has announced plans to expand the country’s EV charging infrastructure to 4 lakh charging points by 2027.
This initiative is part of Open Collaboration 2.0, a strategy designed to enhance accessibility, reliability, and ease of use for EV owners across India.
Major Expansion Plans: A Nationwide Charging Revolution
To meet this ambitious goal, Tata.ev is working closely with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to roll out an additional 30,000 public chargers. These chargers will be Tata.ev verified, ensuring users can easily locate them via the IRA.ev app.
One of the most notable aspects of this expansion is the deployment of 500+ Mega Chargers at key locations across the country. These high-speed chargers will provide superfast charging, priority access, and dedicated service benefits, significantly improving convenience for long-distance EV travel.
Tata.ev Mega Charger Network: Powering the Future
The Mega Charger Network will be a game-changer in India’s EV ecosystem. The first phase will see the deployment of 500 Mega Chargers, developed in partnership with Tata Power, ChargeZone, Statiq, and Zeon.
These chargers will be strategically installed along major highways and EV corridors, making high-speed, reliable charging easily accessible for all EV users.
Key Features of Tata.ev Mega Chargers:
Superfast charging with four charging bays per station
Priority access & tariff benefits for Tata.ev customers
Seamless access to partner CPO chargers via the IRA.ev app, eliminating the need for multiple charging apps
Customer-Focused Services: Enhancing the EV Experience
Tata.ev is also introducing several customer-centric services to enhance the overall EV ownership experience. These include:
A 24x7 Charging Helpline for instant support and query resolution
A Unified Payments Wallet, simplifying transactions across different charging networks
Tata.ev’s Vision for a Greener Future
With over 2 lakh EVs already on the road and a cumulative 5 billion kilometers driven, Tata.ev is leading India’s EV revolution by not only manufacturing electric vehicles but also developing a robust and sustainable charging ecosystem.
Speaking on the announcement, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said:
"Tata.ev has been at the forefront of India's EV transformation. Through Open Collaboration 2.0, we aim to expand the charging network to over 400,000 points in the next two years, ensuring speed, reliability, and accessibility for all EV users. Our Mega Chargers and Verified Chargers will further improve user experience while supporting the growth of CPOs. With a dedicated helpline and seamless payment solutions, we are committed to making EV charging more accessible and efficient."
