Tata Nexon Leads October Sales 2025 Rankings

The Tata Nexon has unexpectedly surpassed long-standing stalwarts like the Maruti Dzire and Hyundai Creta to become India's best-selling vehicle for October 2025. The tiny SUV's success—more than 22,000 units sold—reflects India's rising fondness for SUVs, which has been bolstered by demand over the holiday season and recent tax advantages under the new GST regime. The milestone also highlights Tata Motors' dominant market position, which is fueled by the Nexon's robust safety credentials and variety of powertrain options.

  • In October 2025, the Tata Nexon, a small SUV, surpassed all competitors to become the best-selling vehicle in India.

  • Strong holiday demand and tax breaks under the new GST regime are driving the industry as a whole.

Nexon's record-breaking month

The Tata Nexon was the best-selling vehicle in India in October 2025, with 22,083 units sold. When compared to the same month last year, this number shows a growth of about 50% year-over-year (YoY).

The model's increasing popularity was highlighted by the YoY jump, even though the month-over-month (MoM) change was somewhat negative. Both ICE and EV models of the Tata Nexon are included in the sales figures.

Competition and place in the market

In October 2025, the Nexon was succeeded by:

  • Maruti Dzire with 20,791 units and a remarkable 64% YoY increase.

  • Hyundai Creta with 18,381 units, despite a modest decline in its MoM.

  • These figures show a change: in the Indian market, an SUV (Nexon) is outselling more conventional favorites like sedans and hatchbacks.

5Hyundai Creta (including Creta Electric and Creta N Line)18,38117,4975

Why is this happening?

Festive season & tax changes

October 2025 saw a boom in India's passenger car market thanks to increased holiday spending and tax breaks under the new GST regime. For instance, entry-level car taxes were lowered in September, improving affordability.

Across all categories, car purchases were boosted by the festive window from Navratri to Diwali.

Strategy and product appeal

The Nexon has an advantage in the budget-conscious Indian market thanks to its potent combination of SUV style, several power-train options (gasoline, diesel, and electric), and safety credentials. Additionally, the GST reduction aided in pricing.

What comes next?

The Nexon's performance indicates that small SUVs are now really popular in India, displacing more traditional sedan and hatchback models.

Stronger demand will force automakers to increase production and maintain a stable supply chain for the broader market.

Whether this performance continues after the holiday/tax boost time and how rivals react with new products or prices will be crucial.
