Skoda Recalls Over 25,000 Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia Cars in India: Safety Risk Triggers Action

Skoda Auto India has issued a large-scale recall affecting over 25,000 units of the Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia models manufactured between May 2024 and April 2025. The reason: a potential rear seatbelt failure that could compromise passenger safety during a frontal crash. Here's what we know so far about this recall and the affected vehicles.

In what may be seen as a significant development, recall has been announced to cover 25722 units of popular models Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia under Skoda Auto India. The affected vehicles fall under the SIAM recall database and were manufactured between May 24, 2024, and Apr 1, 2025.

The recall could provide cause for alarm, as it was prompted by an issue with the assembly of the rear seatbelt latch or buckle. Reports indicated a possibility that the middle and right-side seatbelts at the back might malfunction during a frontal collision, thus exposing passengers seated at the rear to further injury.

Although Skoda does not go public with its concerns, it is expected that affected owners would be contacted by those in the business for the inspection and free replacement of damaged parts. These services will be done at the authorised Skoda service centres completely free of cost to the customer.

Affecting Models: Specs & Trading Prices Summary

Skoda Kylaq

1.0 L turbo-petrol with power output of 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque is used to power the most affordable SUV by Skoda, the Kodiaq. It's available at a price range of ₹7.89 lakh to ₹14.40 lakh (ex-showroom) and has been offered with options of both manual and automatic transmission.

Skoda Kushaq

Middle-positioned SUV comes in Active, Ambition, and Style trim levels, with 1.0 l and 1.5 l TSI engines as options, along with the price. The price lies between ₹10.99 lakh to ₹19.01 lakh (ex-showroom). They offer the choice of transmission of 6-speed manual transmission to a 7-speed DSG.

Skoda Slavia

The Slavia sedan is essentially the Kushaq with a similar engine under the hood. Prices range from ₹10.34 lakh to ₹18.24 lakh (ex-showroom). Available for sale with multiple transmission options and a range of trims to serve various buyer needs, it boasts the same features as an SUV.

As the recall process gets underway, customers can check with their local dealerships or visit Skoda's official website to find out if their vehicle is part of this recall.
