Skoda Kylaq Demand Soars: Waiting Periods Stretch Up to 5 Months

The newly launched Skoda Kylaq is off to a strong start in India, registering over 5,000 units sold last month. This surge in demand has led to waiting periods stretching up to five months, especially for the base Classic variant. With its competitive pricing, safety features, and rising dealership network, the Kylaq is positioning itself as a volume driver for Skoda India in 2025.

With its picture-perfect sales figures per month and rising popularity in the country, the compact SUV Skoda Kylaq is catching most of the headlines in the Indian automaking scene.

Ever since its launch, this product has even helped Skoda achieve monthly sales like never before in India. Over 5,000 units of the SUV were sold in March 2025 against the same time in the previous year, which significantly contributed to the monthly sales of the brand at 7,422 units.

Skyrocketing demand means that the waiting period for the Kylaq has now been revealed as two to five months, with the longest waiting period applied to entry-level Classic trim, which is only available with a manual gearbox, stated Petr Janeba, Brand Director of Skoda Auto India.

For the Prestige trim, production prioritization for the more premium variants has reduced the wait to about two months, and Signature/Signature+ trims have a wait of about three months.

This compact SUV comes with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 115 hp and 178Nm, and it is offered with two transmission options: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The respective claimed fuel economy figures are 19.05kpl and 19.68kpl. It also recently received a 5-star crash safety rating from Bharat NCAP, further enhancing its appeal among safety-conscious buyers.

Skoda is continuing to add heft to its aspirations in India and is eyeing an 8,000-monthly sales target by the end of 2025 for Kylaq. Also, it is expected to hike its current 280 touchpoints to 350 by August. This capitalizes on Skoda's broader vision of selling 100,000 vehicles annually by 2026.

But this kind of success costs Skoda Kushaq. Once 1,500-2,000 units were sold in a month, lately they even have monthly sales that have dipped to the below 1,000 units. March, particularly, logged only 897 sold units-the lowest sales figures in history of the model.

The Kylaq has an impressive collection of features that include a 10-inch infotainment system, sunroof, wireless connectivity, and six airbags as standard, and along with that, it is also one of the most affordable, safe, and feature-rich compact SUVs, revolutionizing the future of Skoda in India.
