Prayagraj announced a “No Vehicle Zone” for Maghi Purnima Snan on 12th February.

The Prayagraj government has issued a traffic advisory and designated a “No Vehicle Zone” for pilgrims in the holy location ahead of a significant bathing ceremony at Maha Kumbh on February 12 in honor of Maghi Purnima. The fifth "Shahi Snan" of Mahakumbh is taking a bath on Maghi Purnima.

Prayagraj Annonced No Vehicle Zone

The administration has declared that starting at 4:00 am on February 11, the entire fair area would be a no-vehicle zone under the regulations. However, the restriction does not apply to emergency or necessary services.

Traffic Plan in Prayagraj because of Maghi Purnima Bath on 12th February 2025

Except for necessary and emergency services, the entire fair area will be a no-vehicle zone starting at 4:00 am on February 11, 2025 to facilitate devotees' easy bathing.

On February 11, after 4:00 am, devotees' cars arriving from outside Prayagraj city for the Maha Kumbh bath will be parked in the lot for the appropriate route. The aforementioned arrangement will not apply to emergency or critical service vehicles.

Emergency vehicles to be exempted

No Vehicle Zone will be in effect in Prayagraj city after 5 p.m. on February 11 to facilitate the easy mobility and bathing of devotees in the city and fair area. Emergency and necessary service vehicles will not be subject to the aforementioned arrangement.

The aforementioned limitations on car entry and exit in Prayagraj City and the fair area will also apply to Kalpvasis cars.

Devotees stuck in Traffic Jam at Mahakumbh

Every day, crores of devotees flock to Prayagraj to take a holy bath, but many have been caught in traffic jams for almost eleven hours. A Hindustan Times report claims that there are severe traffic jams on the 300-kilometer highways that go to Prayagraj. On social media, a number of followers shared their stories and expressed their annoyance at poor management.

Magha Purnima Tithi and Moonrise Timing

  • Purnima Tithi Commences on February 11, 2025, at 8:25 AM

  • Purnima Tithi ends on February 12, 2025, at 8:52 a.m.

  • Moonrise on Purnima, February 12, at 5:56 p.m.

Significance Of Magha Purnima

Drik Panchang asserts that the final and most significant day of Magha Mahina is Magha Purnima. Rituals including taking a holy bath, giving alms, giving to a cow, and doing Homa at Prayag are all carried out on this day.
