Most Powerful Fortuner Ever Revealed in South Africa

Strong engine and minor design adjustments. Remarkably, the Japanese carmaker's most potent Fortuner to date is this revised model. Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) recently introduced the updated Fortuner GR-Sport, featuring a more powerful engine and subtle design changes

The upcoming Fortuner which is to be launched in the South African Market is expected to be more powerful in terms of engine capabilities.

The 2.8L, 4-cylinder diesel engine that powers the 2017 Toyota Fortuner GR-Sport has been modified to produce a maximum power output of 221 horsepower and an incredible torque of 550 Nm. The upgraded version has 50Nm greater torque and is almost 20bhp more potent than the previous one. A 6-speed automatic gearbox is included with this powerplant. Toyota has also adjusted its suspension system to boost performance and comfort.

Minimal Changes were made to the Design

Its design has also been altered only a little. The new Fortuner GR-Sport has a redesigned front and back bumper as well as a honeycomb grille. Its dominating road presence is further enhanced by its sculpted body lines, larger, freshly designed 18-inch alloy wheels in gloss black finish, LED taillamps, and dual exhaust outlets.

With its Alcantra-trimmed sports seats, the new Toyota Fortuner GR-Sport's cabin maintains its "GR"-specific design. Additionally, it features GR inside emblems and GR aluminum pedals.

Price of the New Fortuner

The new Fortuner GR-Sport is priced at R999,000 (about Rs 44.95 lakh) in the South African market. The SUV is being offered by the firm with a three-year or 100,000-kilometer guarantee in addition to the usual warranty of nine services and 90,000 kilometers.

Conclusion

As a result, The new Toyota Fortuner GR-Sport will not be introduced in India by the Japanese carmaker. Here, the business will present the Fortuner MHEV, or mild hybrid electric vehicle, which has an electric motor generator, a 48V battery, and a turbo diesel engine. The new hybrid version of the SUV will reduce carbon emissions and improve fuel efficiency. Although the new Fortuner MHEV is anticipated to make its debut this year, its precise launch date and specifics have not yet been disclosed.
