Mini Cooper S And Countryman Electric Make Their Debut In India

Mini Cooper S and Countryman Electric Make Their Debut in India

In a significant update for automotive enthusiasts in India, Mini has officially launched the refreshed Mini Cooper S and the much-anticipated Mini Countryman Electric. With pricing set at Rs. 44.9 lakh for the Cooper S and Rs. 54.9 lakh for the Countryman Electric (both ex-showroom), these new models are poised to offer exciting new features and performance upgrades. Deliveries for both vehicles are slated to commence in September this year.

Mini Cooper S: A Classic with Modern Upgrades

The updated Mini Cooper S brings a blend of classic charm and modern technology to the forefront. Available in two distinct packs—Classic and Flavoured—the Cooper S has undergone several design refinements while incorporating advanced features that elevate its appeal.

Among the notable updates is the introduction of a cutting-edge digital OLED touchscreen, which enhances the vehicle’s user interface with sharper graphics and improved responsiveness. Complementing this is Mini OS9, the latest iteration of Mini’s operating system, which integrates an intelligent personal assistant to offer a more intuitive driving experience. Additionally, the Cooper S now comes with a digital key plus and a fish-eye camera, further adding to its technological prowess.

Under the hood, the Mini Cooper S retains its sporty essence with a robust 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This powertrain produces a respectable 201bhp and 300Nm of torque, delivered through an automatic gearbox that channels power to the front wheels. While the current model is petrol-powered, it’s worth noting that electric versions of the Cooper are available in global markets, reflecting Mini's commitment to evolving with automotive trends.

Mini Countryman Electric: A New Era of Urban Mobility

The Mini Countryman Electric marks an exciting addition to Mini's lineup in India, bringing electric mobility to a larger audience. This new model is built on the BMW iX1 platform, which underpins its advanced electric powertrain and design features.

The Countryman Electric is equipped with a 66.45kWh battery pack, providing a WLTP-certified range of 462km on a single charge. This substantial range makes it a practical choice for both urban commutes and longer journeys. Charging efficiency is also a highlight, with the battery capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 29 minutes, thanks to fast-charging capabilities.

The electric powertrain combines the battery pack with an electric motor to produce 201bhp and 250Nm of torque. This setup ensures that the Countryman Electric offers a dynamic driving experience, aligning with Mini's reputation for sporty performance and agility.

Key Features and Comparisons

Both the Mini Cooper S and Countryman Electric boast an array of features designed to enhance driving comfort and convenience. The Cooper S’s new digital OLED touchscreen and Mini OS9 integration bring a contemporary edge to its classic design, while the inclusion of a digital key plus and fish-eye camera improves functionality and safety.

The Countryman Electric stands out with its impressive range and rapid charging capabilities, positioning it as a strong contender in the growing electric vehicle market. Its electric powertrain not only offers a significant boost in efficiency but also aligns with the global shift towards sustainable mobility solutions.

In terms of competition, the Mini Cooper S will face rivals in the luxury hot hatch segment, where its blend of performance and technology sets it apart. The Mini Countryman Electric, meanwhile, will compete with other premium electric SUVs, with its combination of range, charging speed, and Mini’s distinctive style giving it a unique edge.

Conclusion

The launch of the Mini Cooper S and Mini Countryman Electric represents a significant step forward for the brand in India. With their advanced features, refined performance, and competitive pricing, these new models are set to capture the attention of both traditional Mini enthusiasts and new customers looking for modern, high-tech vehicles. As deliveries begin in September, Mini is expected to make a notable impact on the Indian automotive market, further cementing its position as a leader in stylish, performance-oriented vehicles.
