MG Cyber X Unveiled at Shanghai Motor Show: A Bold, Boxy Electric SUV for the Future

At the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, MG Motor unveiled its Cyber X electric SUV, which is the second model from its Cyber sub-brand. While the first SUV was characterized by striking style and cutting-edge design, the Cyber X features tons of futuristic technology geared toward youth and lifestyle buyers. It also promises prospects for a future global launch.

MG Motor proudly presents its most recent electric marvel, the MG Cyber X SUV, its second offering under the Cyber sub-brand after the sporty Cyberster roadster.

The new SUV was launched at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show and is being tagged as a lifestyle SUV that targets the young tech-savvy buyers. Leaving aside the sporty cousins, the Cyber X is a full-blown SUV with high futuristic technology and a complete identity of its own.

Unique Design with a Hint of Futurism

The Cyber X doesn't borrow cues from retro or rugged 4x4 icons such as the G-Class or Defender but rather goes for an all-new futuristic touch, sharp boxy lines, minimalist surfaces, and pop-up headlights-a rarity in today's automotive design. Iconic illuminated front and rear badges, full-width LED light bars, and dual-tone alloy rims add to its eye-grabbing innovation.

Built on SAIC's Next-Gen E3 Electric Platform

SAIC has developed a new electric-only modular platform called the E3, which supports everything from small cars, such as city hatchbacks, to very big SUVs. This new platform adopts a cell-to-body (CTB) architecture, which allows integration of the battery within the structure of the car and boosts structural stiffness while reducing weight, further enhancing efficiency and performance.

High-level Technology Integrated into the OS

MG confirmed that the Cyber X will be the first automobile to utilize Zebra 3.0, which promises enhanced voice control, connectivity, and semi-autonomous features. The SUV also relies on the powerful Horizon Robotics J6 chip for enabling advanced driver monitoring systems and AI-based navigation capabilities.

Going Global, Aiming Youth

In the first instance intended for the Chinese market, MG Cyber had some apparently overseas plans in the works. The Cyberster roadster is already going to India, and the Cyber X will probably join it there. MG will launch eight Cyber models across the world within the next two years- SUVs and sedans, plus electric sports cars.

While not all details about the tech specs and batteries are yet known, the MG Cyber X is bound to be a real game-changer in the lifestyle EV space, with bold designs and futuristic technology.
