Mg Astor 2025 A Fresh Update With New Engine Choices And Enhanced Features

MG Astor 2025: A Fresh Update with New Engine Choices and Enhanced Features

The 2025 MG Astor sees a significant update as it parts ways with its 1.3-litre turbo engine, opting instead for a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. Along with this change, enhanced features such as a panoramic sunroof and improved infotainment are set to delight customers while keeping the price range competitive.

MG Motor has refreshed the MG Astor for 2025 with several notable changes. This change comes as part of a broader strategy to streamline the engine options and improve overall efficiency in the Astor range.

While the turbo engine brought extra power to the table, the naturally aspirated engine provides a more balanced performance that many drivers will appreciate for its reliability and fuel efficiency. To get detailed information, read the article below.

What’s New Under the Hood?

The switch to the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine marks a significant shift for the MG Astor. This new engine delivers 110hp and 144Nm of torque. It is available with two transmission choices: a 5-speed manual or an 8-step CVT automatic.

While it offers slightly less power compared to the discontinued turbo engine, the naturally aspirated option is designed to be more fuel-efficient and easier to maintain over the long run.

Although the turbo variant was popular among enthusiasts looking for extra punch, the decision to focus on the 1.5-litre engine may attract a broader range of customers who prefer a more economical daily driver.

Upgraded Features for Every Variant

The 2025 refresh of the MG Astor does not stop at just the engine change. MG has packed in several new standard features to enhance the overall driving experience. Even the entry-level Sprint and Shine variants have received a boost in their equipment list.

  • Now, a panoramic sunroof and a six-speaker sound system come as standard, adding a touch of luxury and making every journey more enjoyable.

  • The mid-level Select variants now include six airbags, ensuring better safety for all passengers.

  • Premium ivory leatherette seats have also been added as a standard feature in this variant, enhancing comfort and style.

  • For tech enthusiasts, the updated i-SMART 2.0 infotainment system promises a smoother and more connected driving experience with features such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, and even an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

In addition to these upgrades, the Astor continues to offer a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that includes various driver aids to make driving safer and easier. Features like ventilated front seats are maintained, ensuring that the MG Astor remains competitive in the crowded SUV market.

Pricing and Variants: What Has Changed?

Here is a quick look at the current variant lineup and their prices:

VariantEngine & TransmissionPrice (Ex-showroom)
Sprint1.5-litre Petrol, 5MTRs 9.99 lakh

The change in the engine lineup and the new standard features in the lower variants aim to offer better value for money, even as the price sees a slight uptick at the top end.

The MG Astor in the Competitive SUV Market

The updated MG Astor faces competition from popular midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. Each of these rivals brings its own set of features and advantages. However, the MG Astor’s refreshed design, competitive pricing, and thoughtful feature upgrades make it a strong contender in its segment.

Overall, MG has enhanced the value proposition of the Astor by adding popular features as standard across more variants. These thoughtful updates are designed to make the SUV more appealing to a broader audience, ensuring that it not only meets but exceeds the expectations of today’s car buyers.
