Maruti e Vitara EV: Powertrain, Battery Pack & Key Highlights

Maruti Suzuki's first electric SUV, the e Vitara, debuts with two battery pack options, offering up to 500km range. Packed with ADAS, multiple drive modes, and an advanced thermal management system, the India-spec model will launch with 2WD, promising efficiency and performance for EV enthusiasts.

Maruti Suzuki has officially unveiled its first-ever electric vehicle, the e Vitara, at the Bharat Mobility Auto Show in Delhi. The much-anticipated SUV aims to set new benchmarks with a 500km driving range, a Lithium Ferro-Phosphate (LFP) battery, and advanced technology features. Unlike its global counterpart, which offers an AWD (All-Wheel Drive) system, the India-spec e Vitara will launch initially with 2WD (Two-Wheel Drive).

Two Battery Options, Impressive Powertrain

Maruti Suzuki is offering the e Vitara with two battery pack options to cater to different driving needs.

  • 49kWh Battery Pack: Paired with a single electric motor, this version produces 142bhp and 192.5Nm of torque.

  • 61kWh Battery Pack: With a slightly higher power output of 172bhp, the torque remains 192.5Nm.

Both variants will feature imported battery packs from BYD, ensuring efficiency and durability. Moreover, the cell-to-pack configuration is optimized with a sophisticated thermal management system to maintain performance in extreme temperatures ranging from -30°C to 60°C.

Tech-Loaded with Advanced Driving Modes & ADAS

The Maruti e Vitara isn't just about range and efficiency; it also offers a range of tech and safety features. Some highlights include:

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for safer driving

  • Eco, Normal & Sport drive modes, plus a snow mode for enhanced traction

  • Adaptive front grille for better aerodynamics

  • Regenerative braking with one-pedal driving mode

With these innovations, Maruti aims to provide a seamless electric driving experience, setting a new standard in the growing EV market.

Maruti e Vitara: The Road Ahead

Maruti Suzuki has carefully crafted the e Vitara to meet India's rising demand for EVs with practical features, long range, and affordability. While the launch is expected in March 2025, more details about its pricing and features will be revealed soon. If successful, the e Vitara could redefine the electric SUV market in India, giving stiff competition to the Tata Curvv EV and Mahindra BE6.
