Mahindra Xuv400 Ev Shines With 5 Star Bharat Ncap Safety Rating

Mahindra XUV400 EV Shines with 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

Mahindra's first fully electric SUV, the XUV400, has achieved an impressive milestone by securing a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). This marks a significant achievement not just for Mahindra but also for the growing electric vehicle (EV) market in India.

Designed to offer a safe and sustainable driving experience, the XUV400 has demonstrated exceptional performance in both adult and child occupant protection categories, reinforcing its position as a reliable family-friendly EV.

Crash Test Performance

The Mahindra XUV400 secured 30.38 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the SUV scored 14.38 out of 16 points, with ‘good’ protection for almost all body parts of the driver and co-passenger, except for the driver’s chest and left leg, which received an ‘adequate’ rating. The side movable deformable barrier test saw the XUV400 achieve a perfect 16 out of 16 points, showcasing its robust structural integrity during side impacts.

For child occupant protection, the EV excelled with an overall score of 43 out of 49 points. In the dynamic safety assessment, it scored 24 out of 24, while the CRS installation and vehicle assessment scores stood at 12 out of 12 and 7 out of 13, respectively. Tests for an 18-month-old child seat yielded 8 out of 8 in front impact and 4 out of 4 in side impact, while similar tests for a three-year-old child also recorded the same perfect scores.

Safety Features

The XUV400 comes with a comprehensive suite of safety features to ensure maximum protection. Standard safety equipment includes dual airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS with EBD, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and rear parking sensors. Buyers opting for the top-tier EL Pro trim gain access to additional features such as six airbags, a reverse parking camera, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, and hill-hold assist.

A Game-Changer in the EV Segment

Priced from ₹15.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Mahindra XUV400 delivers an attractive combination of safety, affordability, and eco-friendliness. Its 5-star Bharat NCAP rating underscores Mahindra's commitment to offering vehicles that not only perform well but also prioritize the safety of occupants.

This stellar safety performance positions the Mahindra XUV400 as a strong contender in the growing EV market and provides buyers with peace of mind, making it a standout choice for those seeking a safe and sustainable driving experience.
