Mahindra Thar Sales Cross 2 Lakh Units A Journey Of Success

Mahindra Thar Sales Cross 2 Lakh Units: A Journey of Success

Mahindra’s Thar has achieved a major milestone, surpassing 2,00,000 units in sales in India. Launched in October 2020, the second-generation Thar has garnered tremendous popularity, with the 3-door version now joined by the new 5-door Thar Roxx variant.

As of October 2024, the total sales of the Thar stand at an impressive 2,07,110 units, marking a significant achievement for Mahindra.

Thar’s Impressive Growth

The Mahindra Thar has experienced consistent growth in sales since its launch, with the SUV becoming an iconic off-roader in the Indian market.

In the fiscal year 2024 alone, the Thar saw a 38.5% increase in sales, reaching 65,246 units.

Additionally, the first seven months of FY2025 (April-October) saw a 19.6% growth, with 42,726 units sold. This demonstrates the vehicle's consistent popularity and appeal across various consumer segments.

Key Factors Driving the Thar’s Success

Several factors have contributed to the Thar’s success in the Indian market. The 3-door version, with its incredible off-road capability, has won the hearts of adventure enthusiasts.

Moreover, the modern features and interior of the Thar make it suitable for daily driving, ensuring that it meets both practical and rugged demands. The introduction of the Thar Roxx has further accelerated demand, as it offers a more practical and mainstream option for families and individuals looking for a versatile SUV.

The Thar Roxx, which was launched in August 2024, has played a crucial role in expanding the Thar's customer base.

Sales Surge with Thar Roxx

The launch of the Thar Roxx has had a major impact on Mahindra’s sales figures.

In September 2024, the company dispatched a record 8,843 Thar units to dealers, with 4,932 units being the 5-door Thar Roxx variant. This marked the highest monthly dispatch for the Thar brand, surpassing the previous record set in April 2024. This surge in sales was further reflected in Mahindra's overall performance, with the company crossing the 50,000 monthly sales mark for the first time, achieving 51,062 units in September and 54,504 units in October 2024.

Thar’s Contribution to Mahindra’s Overall Growth

The increased demand for the Thar and Thar Roxx has had a significant impact on Mahindra’s overall sales performance. In September and October 2024, the two variants contributed 17% and 14.57%, respectively, to the company’s total monthly sales.

As a result, Mahindra has been ramping up production to meet the rising demand. The current monthly output for the Thar and Thar Roxx combined is 6,500 units, and the company plans to increase it to 9,500 units per month.

A Bright Future for Mahindra Thar

With over 2 lakh units sold and a continued upward trajectory, the Mahindra Thar’s journey is far from over. The Thar and its new 5-door variant, the Thar Roxx, continue to capture the attention of a wide range of consumers, from off-road enthusiasts to everyday drivers. Mahindra’s commitment to improving production and expanding its offerings suggests that the Thar will remain a dominant player in the Indian SUV market for years to come.
