Mahindra Confirms 5 New SUVs for 2026; All-New Platform To Debut on 15 August

Mahindra is going big on a product launch in calendar year 2026 with five new models on the way - three ICE and two EVs, alongside the debut of a new multi-power-train platform on August 15, as it ramps up production at Chakan preparing for its next generation of SUVs.

Mahindra is set to have a strong product offensive across the calendar year 2026 with the announcement of five new SUVs—3 ICE (Internal Combustion Engines) models and 2 BEVs (Battery Electric). The Indian manufacturer has also announced a new platform reveal on the 15 August 2025, which is exciting news for its future mobility plans.

Maintaining the Balance: ICE Models and EVs

Of the five new vehicles, 2 will be mid-cycle facelifts and the three models will be all-new or major updates. Regarding the EVs, there will be the XEV 7e, which is a battery-powered XUV700 (first leaks appearing with the announcement of the XEV 9e and BE6) and the Thar.e, which was first shown in concept form during Mahindra’s showcase in South Africa in 2023. This electric off-roader will keep the rugged DNA of the Thar while moving toward a zero-emissions future.

For the internal combustion engine (ICE) range, Mahindra is expected to see a facelift for the Scorpio-N, which will share many updates with the upcoming Global Pik Up.

Another possible model could be the next-generation XUV500, which will rival third-generation mid SUV competitors such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Rounding out the trio can be expected to be a mid-life update for the XUV700, first launched in 2021, and now ready for tech and feature updates.

A new Platform for ICE & EV SUVs

As a part of a multi-pronged strategy, Mahindra is also expected to showcase a new multi-powertrain platform on 15 August 2025. This platform, as a flexible architecture, may offer support for ICE and EVs, likely focusing on SUV and crossover formats.

One vehicle projected to be based on this new platform is the next-generation Bolero, the long-awaited update of one of Mahindra's most famous nameplates.

To facilitate the growth in production, Mahindra is increasing the manufacturing capabilities of its Chakan plant to 1.2 lakh units and expects to be ready by 2027.

With a balance of combustion, electric products in its mix, and a new platform approaching, Mahindra is clearly setting itself up to be the SUV market leader in several segments and powertrains in the coming years.
