Mahindra Becomes South Africa’s Fastest-Growing Auto Brand in 2022

The Indian auto manufacturer Mahindra has been named the fastest-growing brand in South Africa for the year 2022 as the company's local subsidiary set several records in the last year, according to a report by the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA).

Mahindra SA increased sales volume by a whopping 78 per cent, compared to 2021, avers the report-in highest sales growth for any brand, reporting their sales to NAAMSA, and over five times the market average.

"Further to this, Mahindra achieved an 80% growth in total passenger vehicle sales up to 4 027 units in 2022, while light commercial sales (that of its popular Pik Up and Bolero ranges) went up by 77% to 8 885 units.

Averaged over a month, it then achieved average monthly sales more than 1,000 units per month-once breaking the magic 10,000 unit per year point for the first time-ever, with an almost 14,000 total sales for the year, it said. This is also for the second time since 2019, where Mahindra has been winning in South Africa as the fastest-growing brand, and the fourth time in the last five years where the brand has been among the fastest growing in the country.

Mahindra's CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) over these years was 23.6 per cent.
