Kia Carens Clavis India Launch on May 23: Bookings Open, Premium Trims Revealed

Kia is set to expand its Carens lineup with the launch of the more premium Clavis variant. Launching on May 23, the Carens Clavis comes in 6 and 7 seat options, with new trims, updated styling, premium features, and multiple petrol and diesel engine choices. Bookings are now open for Rs 25,000.

Kia Carens Clavis India Launch on May 23

Kia India is poised to launch the Carens Clavis, a more premium and updated variant of the Carens MPV, officially on May 23, 2025. Pre-bookings for the new MPV started on May 9 with a token price of Rs 25,000, both online and at dealerships nationwide.

The Carens Clavis will sit above the standard Carens, which has been reduced to a sole variant offer. The Clavis, on the other hand, will have seven trims – HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+(O), HTX, and HTX+ – to provide more choices to the customers.

Features, Trims & Seating Configurations

What really distinguishes the Clavis is the high-end features, most of which have now become exclusive to this new model. The customers can look forward to a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, Level 2 ADAS, ambient lighting, and leatherette upholstery, among others.

Furthermore, whereas the regular Carens now only comes in a 7-seater setup, the Clavis has both 6 seater (with captain seats) and 7 seater options.

Modern Interior and Powertrain Options

Inside, the Carens Clavis receives a new-age dashboard with bigger screens, boosting the cabin's technology quotient. The MPV will come powered by three engine choices:

  • 115hp 1.5L NA petrol (6-speed manual)

  • 116hp 1.5L diesel (6-speed manual / 6-speed AT)

  • 160hp 1.5L turbo-petrol (6-speed iMT / 7-speed DCT)

Expected Price and Competitors

With more features and a better positioning, the Kia Carens Clavis is likely to be priced between Rs 11 lakh and over Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with competitors like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, XL6, and Toyota Rumion in the midsize MPV space.
