India will see the launch of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara on December 02, 2025

The e-Vitara, Maruti Suzuki's first all-electric SUV, would be introduced in India on December 02, 2025. The model, which will be manufactured in the company's Gujarat facility, is a significant step in the brand's electric mobility strategy. The e-Vitara intends to compete in the mid-size electric SUV market with competitors like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and MG ZS EV, thanks to its two battery pack options (49 kWh and 61 kWh), a stated range of more than 500 km, and a feature-rich cabin.

  • The e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki's first electric vehicle, will go on sale in India on December 02, 2025.

  • There are two battery options (49 kWh and 61 kWh), with a claimed range of more than 500 km and an estimated starting cost of about ₹20 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki's first fully battery-electric vehicle (BEV) available in India is the e-Vitara. The official launch is slated for December 02, 2025. The company's Gujarat facility, which also serves foreign markets, is already producing this model.

Key features and specs

Range & Battery

  • 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options are anticipated.

  • According to the manufacturer, the larger battery version can travel more than 500 kilometers on a single charge.

  • Initially, only the front-wheel-drive (FWD) variant is anticipated in India. The model is based on a specific BEV platform (Heartect-e architecture).

Features

  • It has a dual-screen configuration with a 10.1-inch infotainment and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, among other contemporary technology and safety features.

  • Level-2 ADAS, 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and other high-end features are anticipated for safety and driver assistance.

Market positioning and pricing

  • In India, the estimated ex-showroom price range is between ₹20 lakh and ₹25 lakh.

  • Distribution aimed at the mid-size electric SUV market through the Nexa dealer network.

  • Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE 6 are some of the competing vehicles.

Maruti's Electric Leap: The Bigger Picture

This introduction is a significant step for Maruti Suzuki into India's rapidly expanding EV market, where the company has previously relied on its bastion of gasoline and CNG.

In addition to supporting the "Make in India" campaign, producing the e-Vitara in Gujarat establishes the plant as a major export hub, with shipments currently in progress.

The e-Vitara's cheap pricing and stated range of more than 500 kilometers could be crucial in increasing the widespread adoption of EVs in India.
