India's introduction of the MINI Countryman SE All4

At ₹66.90 lakh (ex-showroom), MINI has introduced the all-electric Countryman SE All4 in India. With 313 horsepower and 494 Nm of torque, this dual-motor, all-wheel-drive compact luxury SUV can go up to 440 kilometres between charges. With performance and flair at its core, it represents MINI's daring foray into India's expanding luxury EV market. It has a premium tech-loaded cabin, JCW sporty design features, and 130 kW fast-charging.

  • The new MINI Countryman SE All4's introduction, cost, and technical details in India.

  • What consumers should think about and how the vehicle is positioned in the Indian premium EV market.

At an ex-showroom price of ₹66.90 lakh, MINI has introduced the Countryman SE All4, its completely electric all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant of the Countryman vehicle, in India.

Delivery is reported to have started right away in authorised MINI dealerships around the nation, and reservations are now being accepted.

Performance and key features

Range & Powertrain

  • With two motors on each axle, the Countryman SE All4 generates 313 horsepower (≈230 kW) and 494 Nm of torque.

  • With AWD ("All4") traction, it is the most potent MINI available for purchase in India right now.

  • The WLTP-rated driving range is stated to be up to approximately 440 km on a full charge, and the battery pack has a rating of 66.45 kWh.

  • It claims to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, with a top speed of about 180 km/h.

Battery and charging

  • Allows for 130 kW DC fast-charging, which takes roughly 29 minutes to recharge from 10% to 80%.

  • A complete recharge on the AC side (22 kW) takes about three hours and forty-five minutes.

Features and design

  • The model's sporty exterior features include blacked-out stripes, 19-inch JCW alloy wheels, Jet Black roof and mirror caps, and the dual-tone colour scheme Legend Grey or Midnight Black. The model is exclusively offered in India in the John Cooper Works (JCW) trim theme.

  • A big circular OLED display (MINI's trademark), JCW sports seats with Vescin & Cord upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, a Harman Kardon audio system, ambient lighting, wireless phone mirroring, 360-degree cameras, and cutting-edge driver assistance capabilities are among the premium interior features.

Market context and positioning

  • Bought into India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), which explains the higher price because it was imported rather than made locally.

  • The Countryman SE All4 caters to consumers seeking luxury EV performance in a small SUV format, a niche but expanding market in India, by combining an electric drivetrain, AWD, and premium appearance.

  • It is priced at ₹ 66.90 lakh (ex-showroom), which puts it in the upper echelon of EVs and premium imports. As such, it is not a mass-market product but rather a product for those who want luxury EVs.

Buyer Takeaway

The MINI Countryman SE All4 appeals to those looking for an all-wheel drive, luxurious, performance-driven, electrified SUV. Value-conscious consumers can be turned off by its high CBU pricing, restricted JCW version, and reliance on charging infrastructure. The model is best suited for fans seeking a unique, dynamic EV experience rather than a useful everyday electric SUV, even though it offers luxury performance and styling.
