Hyundai Motor India And Charge Zone Expanding Ev Charging Infrastructure

Hyundai Motor India and CHARGE ZONE: Expanding EV Charging Infrastructure

Hyundai Motor is pacing up its Electric Vehicle game in India. It is consistently striving to boost the infrastructure of the current Indian EV Market. Reportedly, it has partnered with CHARGE ZONE to install high-speed DC fast chargers at Hyundai dealerships across the country in partnership with the Indian government's strategies to promote EV adoption to make EVs easier and more accessible.

Key Details of the Partnership

HMIL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CHARGE ZONE, under which the latter will install 60 kW DC fast chargers at 100 Hyundai dealerships. This initiative aims to strengthen HMIL’s EV roadmap and enhance public EV charging infrastructure in India. The MoU was signed at HMIL’s headquarters in Gurugram, Haryana, by Mr. Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head - Corporate Planning at HMIL, and Mr. Kartikey Hariyani, Founder & CEO of CHARGE ZONE.

Expanding Charging Network

Currently, HMIL operates 34 EV fast charging stations across India. With this new partnership, the number of fast charging stations will significantly increase, providing more convenience for EV users. These charging stations will be strategically located at Hyundai dealerships, making it easier for users to charge their vehicles during intercity and intracity travel.

Benefits for EV Customers

The partnership between HMIL and CHARGE ZONE is set to benefit all EV users, not just those who own Hyundai vehicles. The charging network will be accessible through the ‘myHyundai’ app and the ‘CHARGE ZONE’ app, providing a seamless experience for all users. This move is expected to alleviate range anxiety among EV users and encourage more people to consider electric mobility.

HMIL’s Commitment to Electric Mobility

Mr. Jae Wan Ryu emphasized the importance of strengthening EV charging infrastructure to support the adoption of electric mobility in India. He stated that the strategic partnership with CHARGE ZONE is a crucial step towards building a robust EV charging network. This initiative aligns with India’s goals of achieving carbon neutrality and promoting sustainable transportation.

CHARGE ZONE’s Role and Vision

Mr. Kartikey Hariyani highlighted CHARGE ZONE’s efforts in developing a renewable energy-powered EV charging network over the past five years. He expressed confidence that the collaboration with HMIL would enhance the infrastructure for 4-wheeler electric vehicles, ensuring easy access and a reliable charging experience.

Current and Future Charging Infrastructure

At present, HMIL has 19 dealerships equipped with DC 60 kW public EV charging stations. The collaboration with CHARGE ZONE aims to add 100 more charging stations, offering a reliable and hassle-free charging experience along with 24x7 customer support.

HMIL is also investing in an ever-growing EV charging network across the nation with DC 180 kW and DC 60 kW chargers. Besides its dealership network, HMIL operates 15 more fast charging stations in key cities and highways across nine Indian states.

Charging Management System

To further enhance the EV charging experience, HMIL has developed a dedicated Charging Management System (CMS) platform called “EV Charge.” This platform is hosted within the “myHyundai” mobile app and allows EV customers across all OEM brands to enjoy a seamless charging experience. The CMS enables users to locate charging points, book charging slots, monitor charging remotely, and make digital payments. CHARGE ZONE’s network of chargers is also integrated into the “EV Charge” section of the “myHyundai” app, along with HMIL’s own chargers and those from third-party charging point operators.

In Summary, Hyundai Motor India’s partnership with CHARGE ZONE is a significant step towards enhancing the EV charging infrastructure in India. By installing high-speed DC fast chargers at Hyundai dealerships, the company is making EVs more accessible and convenient for users. This initiative aligns with the Indian government’s strategies to promote EV adoption and supports the country’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality. With a robust charging network and innovative solutions like the “EV Charge” platform, HMIL is paving the way for a sustainable and electric future in India.
