Hyundai Creta Dominates Compact Suv Sales In October 2024 With Over 17400 Units Maruti Grand Vitara Follows With 14000 Units

Hyundai Creta dominates compact SUV sales in October 2024 with over 17,400 units. Maruti Grand Vitara follows with 14,000+ units.

The compact SUV segment in India witnessed a robust performance in October 2024, with total sales reaching 56,226 units—a notable 13% month-on-month (MoM) growth.

Among the fierce competitors, Hyundai Creta led the pack as the top-selling compact SUV, outperforming the Maruti Grand Vitara and securing the highest market share.

Top Performers in October 2024 Compact SUV Sales

1. Hyundai Creta

With sales reaching 17,497 units, Hyundai Creta continued its dominance in the compact SUV market. The Creta captured 31.11% market share, marking a 10.03% MoM growth. Its consistent performance, bolstered by the popularity of the Creta N Line, has made it the top choice in this segment.

2. Maruti Grand Vitara

The Maruti Grand Vitara secured the second position with 14,083 units sold, showcasing the highest MoM growth of 37.16%. Its market share stood at 25.04%, reflecting Maruti's strong presence in the compact SUV segment as demand surged.

3. Kia Seltos

Despite being a popular model, the Kia Seltos experienced a slight dip, with sales at 6,365 units, down by 8.53% MoM and 13.02% YoY. Seltos’s performance fell slightly below its six-month average sales, positioning it as the only model with a decrease in both MoM and YoY sales.

4. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

Toyota’s Hyryder continued to perform steadily, recording 5,449 units sold, a marginal 1.18% MoM increase. With 9.69% market share, Toyota maintains its foothold in the compact SUV market.

5. Tata Curvv

The Tata Curvv gained traction with 5,351 units sold, marking 12.34% MoM growth.

Other Noteworthy Performers

  • Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq: The VW-Skoda siblings experienced over 25% MoM growth each, with combined sales nearing 4,000 units. Despite the growth, their individual market share remains below 5%.

  • Honda Elevate: With 2,149 units sold, Honda's Elevate showed 9.64% MoM growth, capturing a 3.82% market share in October.

  • MG Astor: MG sold 767 units of the Astor, performing consistently but slightly below its six-month average.

  • Citroen Aircross and Basalt: The Citroen Basalt saw a 35.19% decline, while the Aircross grew 151.21% MoM, though both models remain lower in sales volume.

Segment Growth and Trends

The compact SUV market's growth signals rising consumer preference for SUVs, with Hyundai and Maruti dominating the sales charts. New entrants like the Tata Curvv are gaining ground, while established players like Kia Seltos face increased competition. This segment is expected to evolve further, with more players likely aiming to capture market share in the coming months.
