The end of the financial year marks the release of sales figures of automotive brands, ranking them from top to bottom. Following that, Honda Cars India just dropped some fresh sales stats for March 2025, which stated that HCIL witnessed a decline in exports but a growth of approximately 2 percent in domestic sales this fiscal year.
Let’s break down the sales figure to gain a better understanding:
Domestic Sales Up, Overall Down
Honda sold 7,228 cars in India during March 2025 and around 7,071 units in March 2024 which clearly is a 2% jump from the previous year. On the other hand the exports dropped from 6,860 units last year to 4,656 this time.
Adding up all, the total sales for March 2025 hit 11,884 units, down 14.7% from last year’s 13,931. So, while the home crowd kept the engines humming, the overseas game cooled off a bit.
Yearly Vibes: A Solid Finish
Zooming out to the full fiscal year (April 2024 to March 2025), Honda’s total sales clocked in at 1,26,151 units. That’s a tiny bump from the 1,24,173 units sold in 2023-24. Breaking it down, 65,925 cars stayed in India, while 60,226 zoomed off to other countries. That export number? A massive 60% jump and the highest ever for Honda India. Talk about flexing on the global stage!
What’s the Boss Saying?
Kunal Behl, the big shot VP of Marketing & Sales at Honda Cars India, chimed in with some real talk. “The car biz has been tough this year,” he said (not his exact words, but you get it). “Creating new demand in India was a struggle, and our domestic sales felt that pinch. But exports? - We crushed it, especially shipping the Elevate to Japan.” He’s also hyped about the new Amaze sedan, which is winning hearts in the family car scene. Looking ahead, Kunal’s keeping the good vibes going, betting on happy customers to steer them through 2025-26.
So, what’s the deal here? Honda’s proving it can roll with the punches. Even with a tricky market and a March slump overall, they’re still growing where it counts—right here in India. Plus, that export record? Straight fire. The new Amaze is keeping things fresh, and Honda’s ready to keep the pedal down.
