Detailed Overview of the New Maruti Dzire: Variant-wise Powertrain Options Explained

The new-generation Maruti Dzire is set to hit the market on November 11, bringing a refreshed exterior design while drawing inspiration from the Swift for its cabin layout. The 2024 Dzire will be available in four main variants: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi Plus.

Here's an in-depth look at its powertrain options.

Powertrain Options

The 2024 Dzire is powered by Maruti's latest 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z series petrol engine, introduced with the newest generation of the Swift. Additionally, the Dzire will offer a petrol-CNG variant.

Here are the detailed specifications:

Engine Options:

  • 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z series petrol engine

  • 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z series petrol-CNG

Power & Torque:

  • Petrol: 82 PS power, 112 Nm torque

  • Petrol-CNG: 70 PS power, 102 Nm torque

Transmission Choices:

  • Petrol: 5-speed MT, 5-speed AMT

  • CNG: 5-speed MT

Claimed Fuel Efficiency:

  • Petrol: 24.79 kmpl (MT), 25.71 kmpl (AMT)

  • CNG: 33.73 km/kg

The base-spec LXi variant will only come with the 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. The mid-spec VXi and ZXi trims will also offer the CNG option, but only with a manual gearbox. The top-end ZXi Plus variant, on the other hand, will come with the petrol engine and provide a choice between the manual and AMT gearboxes.

The 2024 Dzire includes a host of new features, such as:

  • 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

  • Auto AC with rear vents

  • Wireless phone charger

  • Cruise control

  • Single-pane sunroof (first in the segment)

On the safety front, the Dzire offers:

  • 6 airbags (standard)

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • Rear parking sensors

  • Segment-first 360-degree camera

Expected Price and Rivals

The 2024 Maruti Dzire is expected to start at Rs 6.70 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete with other subcompact sedans like the new-generation Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor, and Hyundai Aura.

The new Dzire is geared to provide advanced features and versatility, making it a strong contender in the Indian compact sedan market.
