Citroen Basalt To Debut In Early August In Production Spec

Citroen Basalt to Debut in Early August in Production Spec

The eagerly awaited Citroen Basalt is set to make its debut in its production-ready form early next month. Manufacturing of the SUV coupe began in June, and its official launch is anticipated shortly after its global unveiling.

Citroen Basalt: Exterior and Interior Design

The exterior of the Citroen Basalt will closely resemble the C3 Aircross, featuring a slightly different grille insert finish. The most noticeable change will be the sloping roofline, lending a coupe-like aesthetic. The Basalt is expected to sport new alloy wheels and will have a distinctive rear end with new tail lamps and a chunky dual-tone bumper.

While the cabin layout of the Basalt has not been officially revealed, it is expected to mirror the C3 Aircross SUV. However, the Basalt's equipment list will be more extensive. Anticipated features include:

  • A 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

  • A digital instrument cluster

  • Electrically folding wing mirrors

  • Automatic climate control

  • Cruise control

  • Wireless charging

  • Keyless entry and go

Citroen Basalt Powertrain

The Basalt will share the same 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine as the C3 Aircross, delivering 110hp and 205Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic, both with standard front-wheel drive.

Citroen Basalt Expected Price and Rivals

The Citroen Basalt will be positioned above the Citroen C3 Aircross in Citroen's lineup, with an expected price range starting from Rs 11 lakh-12 lakh. This places it slightly above the 7-seater SUV, which is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.11 lakh. The Basalt will compete directly with the upcoming Tata Curvv, as well as midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate.

The Citroen Basalt's combination of style, advanced features, and robust powertrain options make it a promising new entrant in the competitive SUV market. Keep an eye out for its official unveiling next month to see how it stacks up against its rivals.
